do you believe in ghosts?

so there was a thread recently about people's experiences of supernatural stuff and i was wondering what people thought about all this.

i'm agnostic, i suppose, when it comes to this. i'd rather not believe in ghosts, cuz they don't seem very likely, but i can't help getting freaked out by the possibility. my flatmates are convinced that our flat is haunted but i'm not sure.

i couldn't read through the thread that inspired this cuz ghost stories get me paranoid so i didn't see who was posting on it.

Do you pretend to like Patrick Swayze in Ghost?

Yeah. Scare us with a good ghost story, and you've guaranteed yourself a bedwarmer that night. ;)

that’s brilliant why just hearing it makes me want to tear your cloths off and get scared....

oh no! I generally got scared a few night ago and asked a girl to comfort me (you may remember her from my Easter card) no wonder she gave me that lecture on why we can’t be together and how her boyfriend loves her there was me thinking she had feelings *shakes fist at Katie*

I'll believe in ghosts when one is stranging me to death. People are afraid of the dark, not because of "ghosts", but because we are biologically programmed to do so. It's an evolutionary trait that has undoubtely saved many humans from predators.

Yes. I also believe Santa Claus visits one household every 1.4 seconds to deposit bagfuls of toys. And the tooth fairy puts quarters under your pillow when you lose a tooth.

In fact, I'm constantly haunted by the loose ends of my black silk headband. I'll feel something gently touching the back of my neck, but when I look, there's nothing there. (Except occasionally --name of NSer withheld--. XD)

I'm on the fence; there are a lot of accounts and cases and many of them are difficult to explain through natural causes, but there is also the fact that none of them have been objectively verified in a laboratory setting. I think I'll remain neutral until I either experience something personally or concrete proof either way is found.

I definitely don't rule out the supernatural...it does make like more exciting to think the world is filled with ghosts, monsters, mythological creatures, and even gods.

It would kick more ass than anything in the history of mankind if I were to see a satyr...greatest nature spirit of all time.

A good deal of what I've read are just stories, and stories from internet posters at that, which are understandably unverifiable. And while it does make life exciting, it can also lead to quite a few sleepless nights.

And Ifreann: This (http://www.ghostgoons.com/) is a collection of some of the 'net legends (if the link works); you can just replace the names of posters with "A friend of mine told me about..." or "My grandmother/aunt/cousin/ex once stayed in..." (and so on)

It does. A few centaurs and dragons would definitely be appreciated once in a while, to break the monotomy.

And it would interesting to see the consequences if a vengeful pagan god began to attack humans for their heresies of monotheism and atheism....

Maybe, I've had a ghostly enounter I cannot readily explain, but most things that go bump in the night usually end up being a cat or a chinchilla at my place.

Well... a ghost can be a poltergeist. Since poltergeist sounds like poultry and poultry does exist, I'll say yes.
