Movie games suck? No. Game movies suck.

I thought of this a while ago, now I'm posting it. Remeber that long, long time ago (Bout a year :D )when everyone was complaining about how much games based off of movies sucked? That no longer applies. After seeing House Of The Dead, Doom, Bloodrayne, Silent Hill, Mario Brothers, Mortal Kombat, and Resident Evil, I have determined that now it is the movies based off of video games that will do the sucking. If you've seen any of the said movies, you know they are nothing like the video game. The storylines tend to be entirely different, they usually don't even have characters from the game, etc. etc. So who agrees with me? Game movies suck!

The Doom movie was a waste of film-crew time.

Game movies have always sucked. With the notable exception of Resident Evil I, but even that wasn't all that good.

Both suck, but games based on movies suck more than movies based on games IMO.

Yeah, I think the real question is, has there ever been a game movie that didn't suck?

Dude. That. Was. CRAP! Then they actually based a game off of that movie, which was entirely different that Street Fighter.

Why did they do that? One can only ponder...

Ummm, the video game came first. It was an arcade game in the last 80s, and the film (if you can call it that) came out in 1994.

No moron, I mean that they made Street Fighter, then they based a movie off of it, then they based a game off of the movie.

Every game based on a movie ever made has sucked ass. One, because the movie producers still had some "rights" to it, and thus the game designers had less workable capital to design a proper game interface- they had to cut costs because the movie producers were going to take a slice of the profit. And two- because if the movie was good enough for a game to be made out of it, then it would have a significant fan base who would inevitably be dissapointed when the game storyline didn't adhere to movie storyline strictly enough.

Every movie based on a game has sucked even more ass. Take the above reasons, flip them around. The only exception was the first Mortal Kombat movie, which was o.k.

Hey, I was with him- you didn't explain that clearly. It sounded like you didn't know a game came first.

But to clarify for those keeping score at home:

Halfway decent arcade game becomes sucky-ass movie becomes even suckier game.

game movies: Mario, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Doom
movie games: ET(2600), Catwoman
I can't remember whether the movie or game came first: Tomb Raider. The first few and latest were video game masterpieces. The rest, and majority, are the worst things since the ET game crippled the video game industry in the early 1980s.

I remember that 2600 game. The ET game where you had to go around and gather the parts to make your record player intergalactic telephone!

The game came first for Tomb Raider, by the way, and the films suck ass.

Guys, you seem to be missing the point, though:

It's a movie based on a computer game - what did you expect?

And here's one more reason why a storyline is not exactly what I care about...

Mortal Kombat was good only in the sense that it was not Super Mario Brothers. But only in that sense.

And I think there is no need to go into the abomination that was Mortal Kombat:Annihilation.

That soundtrack was really great - and the movies were just what I expected them to be. Popcorn entertainment without having to punch the controls to win :D
