It annoys me when...

English-speaking people use the term "CCCP" to refer to the USSR. It's not the cee-cee-cee-arr (with latin letters), its the seh-seh-seh-reh (with cyrillic letters, standing for soyuz sovetska sotsialisticheskaya republika), you could call call it the SSSR if you really wanted to call it by its native name, but people probably wouldn't know what you are talking about, because we all say USSR.

Mixing two languages, two alphabets and two distinctive sets off meaning is just nonsensical and doesn't make any sense to anyone.

I'm kinda half-expecting nobody to reply to this, but I don't really mind, I just wanted to get it off my chest.

There's a game developer called CCP, and on their forums people sometime refer to them as CCCP if they want to make a negative comment. That seems like fair use.

I've never ever seen that actually happen.

Except right here. (http://www.nation-states.com/showpost.php?p=10861501&postcount=28) Odd, that.

Yeah... that's kind of what caused me to write this, I didn't want to name any names, but it seems you've done that for me... thanks.

I have seen it done a few times before though... so I'm not basing this whole complaint on one incidence.

I didn't do it until AFTER you wrote that topic. But you did inspire me to do so.

Anyway, orthodoxia kai katharousa.

And to think, all this time, I've been pronouncing it See-See-See-Pee:( Oh well, at least I know better now.
