Aussie Croc eats chainsaw and chases man up a tree (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4953668.stm)

No real reason for the huge title. Still that croc has a unbelievable appetite.

I live the Northern Territory ... and those crocs are real. Oh, and the NT News loves crocs stories. The twin towers could fall, but a croc story will be placed on the front page instead.

The croc didn't like the noise of chainsaw when he was chopping up a tree. The tree was near the water's edge.

One thing in common with those two comments, trying both used trying.

Solution: send Bush to Australia and have him chewed out by a crocodile :D
The crocodile has a nice lunch and doesn't need to eat chainsaws anymore, and America gets rid of its worst vermin http://assets.jolt.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

Many ways to die horribly via Oz wildlife

Crocodiles - Around when the Dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Australia has the biggest crocs on Earth.
Snakes - We have the deadliest snakes about including the most poisonous snakes called Taipans.
Spiders - A few small but nasty aggressive spiders here eg Sydney Redback
Mosquitoes - Upto an inch long, can carry lots of nasty diseases.
Box jelly fish - Killer jelly in the water
Scorpions - Big and nasty ones. Mainly eat insects, not people
Stonefish - Fish which look like rock until you step on it. Poisonous spikes
Blue ring octopus - Poisonous

Well, hehe! They prefered to eat Asians so it you're white, you'd be fine. I didn't put the local natives as wildlife as I'd called a racist including them as animals.

Great... I'm thinking of going to Australia for teacher's college... is there anywhere that's relatively safe? (and if possible, close to good surfing spots)

If you live in the cities, you'd be OK apart from a few spiders. If you go bush, different story. Southern beaches are OK, Northern ones tend have more nasties.

Gold Coast for a busier spot (not many snakes or scorpians here), Noosa Heads (probably a few snakes around in summer) for a friendly backwater town. Just swim between the red and yellow flags and listen to the lifesavers.

Box jellyfish: Probably not below Townsville
Crocs: About the same, closer to Cairns though (same with stonefish, wear reefshoes, and octopii)
Scorpians: I used to catch those when I was 5 or 6 down in Armidale (NSW, I had rellies down there)

Mozzies and spiders are unavoidable you forgot to mention sharks and bullants (not deadly, but they hurt like hell)

So I should pick somewhere in a city (won't be hard I guess since I doubt they build universities in the middle of nowhere) in the southern bit. Okies doke.

Bullant: http://wildlife-australia.de/grafik/w_bullant.jpg (Up to 30mm in size)

Sharks: Everywhere (at least they can be) even in canals, just watch for bullsharks. I'm not sure on the exact stats, but about 10% of attacks are from them, but they cause about 30% of fatalities

Aren't Wild buffalo only found in uninhabitable swamplands, though?
