Guilty Pleasures

I started this thred a while back, but since it would be gravedigging to bring it back out, and since also there are new people around, I thought I would re-start it.
A guilty pleasure is music, or a movie, that you really really like, but if you let your peers know, they would just kick your ass on principle. I figure everyone has them, and everyone who says "I listen to what I like and people can kiss my ass if they don't like it" are lying and not willing to admit thier guilty pleasures.
Rules
1 be honest (of course)
2 no flaming others for thier choices
3 uh......no spam?
okay, so here goes.
my big giant guilty pleasure music-wise....... I really really like Neil Diamond. He is so cool, all of his songs are awesome, and in fact right now I am listening to "Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show" and my kids are looking at me like I am weird because I am singing along.... really loud.
*sings*
"pack up the babies and grab the old ladies, everyone goes"
okay, so anyway, since it's not 'cool' with either of my peer groups, I find it kinda soothing that I can listen to it really loud and annoy my family.
movie-wise is even more difficult to admit, since my husband and I are really into movies, and he is an actor and all, the cheesy movies tend to get bashed around here regularly.
I really liked "Dude, Where's my car?" (don't tell ANYONE esp. hubby)
so, whatcha got?
come on, I won't bite...........much. :)

I like Neil Diamond as well. Thank the Lord for the Nightime is a neat song, and Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show is a classic.
I don't consider Neil Diamond a guilty pleasure. It's genuinely good pop music. Something the music industry has forgotten how to make.
My guilty pleasure is, well, I was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. I still watch reruns of it from time to time.
I like reading and re-reading "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", then eating it. I have over 400 copies.
What? ;)

Avon True Romance For Teens novels. Nice romantic stories, without all the smut.
I aslo secretly like CSI:NY. I think I may be the only one.

I adore Michael Jackson. I don't care for the person behind the music, but the music itself...

I'd love to see them try to clean up the movie True Romance so it's suitable for teens. Without the prostitution, murder, cocaine, and James Gandolfini beating the crap out of Patricia Arquette it would probably be a nice love story.

Eh? That's not exactly what I meant....They're actually cheesy novels about girls from various historical time periods who, though initially unlucky in love, always get the guy.

My girlfriend and her family love that show. I don't get what's so wonderful about it, but...meh.
Erm, the closest I have to a guilty pleasure music-wise is Alisha's Attic. Alisha Rules The World is a brilliant album. I don't feel guilty for liking it though. It has all that's best about pop music, and none of the worst parts (ie. it's not mass-produced conveyor belt wank, the band - the two sisters at least - write all the music, it has some great melodies in it, the lyrics are cool...). Yeah, it's great.
As for tv, I guess I don't really have any. Although I can watch anything. If I'm sitting there and someone else puts something on, if I can't be bothered to move, I will quite happily sit there and watch it. However much I'd normally hate it. Maybe kids' tv, actually, though there's precious little good kids' tv around nowadays...
*wanders off mumbling how kids' tv was better when I was a kid...*

I know, but when I read "True Romance" in your post the movie immediately came to mind.

Ooooh...some of that's ok. Towards the end, anyway. Fuck a Dog is just brilliant.

Clarence Worley: "I always said, if I had to fuck a guy... I mean had to, if my life depended on it... I'd fuck Elvis"
:D instant classic
I'm secretly into romantic films *hides evidence*

I pretty much like the whole thing. Probably wouldn't tell anybody though...
Oh, and I should probably mention the Redwall novels as well. Yes, for some reason I like reading adventure novels about mice, rats, badgers, and the like. And some of the old kids' books by Lloyd Alexander.
Meh.

Well, you've just told the entire internet. Potentially, anyway. It'll be front page news within a decade. Not sure front page of what, but...I'll stop now.

That's OK, the entire internet can know; it just means I wouldn't have to actually say the words "I quite like Blink 182" :p

I like listening to pop music to assert my superiority at the fact that I don't listen to garbage like pop music. Figure that out.

Absolutely no reason for shame there, although I would suggest digging deeper into 50's rockabilly - there were much better artists than Bill Halley.
