Looks like a ct scan I had shows I have diverticulitis. I've had severe pain in my left side since Monday morning, hoping it was just a muscle pull. Waited til Wed to go to the doctor.

Oh dear. I hope you'll be able to do something about it.

Right now, I'm on a strong antibiotic. The doctor said that should clear it up in "a few days". I have no bleeding any where,so no perforation.

I did further research and learned that a liquid diet for a few days will allow the diverticla to heal better. I am drinking a lot of water and will have to start eating a lot more fiber to help prevent another attack.

Thanks. As far as this is concerned, I think I have the best case scenario.
No procedures needed.

I have friends with it, they are on the SCD diet because they have frequent flare ups, you might check into it, if I remember correctly they stuck to it for like 4 months and let everything get healed and then only go on it during flare ups now, they say they are doing a lot better.

I'm looking at the ideal diet and it isnt terribly different from what I eat now. I do have to consciously drink more water and add some fiber to my diet. 30 grams a day is recommended, but considering and apple has only 2-3 grams, it could be tough.
So- more water, reduce the processed foods, a little less meat and a little more fiber-my whole family could benefit from this.

sorry to hear about that. Good luck with it.

I actually had a friend who wanted to go on a trip and so ignored that she was feeling pain. She finally wound up in the hospital, and they thought it was appendicitis. turns out she had diverticulitis. She got well fast tho, and I'm sure you will too. Just keep your spirits high and keep up with the meds and you'll be fine.

Thanks. I'm only taking the antibiotics and skipping the pain medication- the side effects included constipation or diareah, two things I dont need.
So-I'm just dealing with it. I've had it since Monday, so I'm a little irritable.
