Apparently some enterprising individual has 'translated' the Star Spangled Banner into Spanish to take advantage of the lovely new market by selling it on a CD for $10.
'Course, normally I wouldnt take issue with this. A Spanish translation of the national anthem is fine, good, in fact.
The problem comes from the fact that its being sold as the national anthem, which it isnt.
What REALLY gets me is the 'remix' that is apprently planned for release later.
And yes, the people who are angry that somebody is singing the anthem in another language are idiots as well. Using the French as an example to follow was rather silly.
Ill see if I can find the lyrics of the re-translated (to English) version after school, unless somebody else does.
Already posted. And it's on the front page.

People should be able to sing _their own_ national anthem in whatever words mean the most to them. Simple as that.

Apparently, this sort of translation has been going on for quite some time.
Edit: sorry about the size thing.

I would take it further and give people the freedom to modify the national anthem to include all those things which make the country mean something to them. Like blackjack. And hookers. In fact, forget the anthem.
Well, the Internationale has been translated into many languages and that doesn't bother the Left.

As I said, its not the fact that its being translated, its the fact that its being translated BADLY and 'customized', like Tactical Grace noted (sarcastically, I assume).
These are the only lyrics Ive been able to find, its from a somewhat biased source, so they may not be accurate, but heres the English translation of the bad Spanish translation:
Oh say can you see, in light of the dawn what so much we praise the night al to fall? Its stars, its stripes floated yesterday/in the wild battle in senal of victory, /Brilliance of fight, al step of it liberated, /at night decian: “Goes defending!”
Chorus: Oh, you say! Unfolds even its beauty crashed, /On land of free, the sacred flag?
Chant:
It' s time to make to difference the kids, men and the women/Let' s stand for our beliefs, let' s stand for our vision/What about the children the ninos as P-Star
These kids have not parents, cause all of these wet laws.
See this can' t happen, not only about the Latins.
Asians, blacks and whites and all they gave is adding
and dies dies, let' s not start to war
with all these hard workers,
They can' t help where they were born.
Be seen 2
Its stars, its stripes, the liberty, we are equals
We are brothers, is our hymn.
In the wild battle in senal of victory, /Brilliance of fight, al step of it liberated, /at night decian: “Goes defending!”
Chorus: Oh, you say! Unfolds even its beauty crashed, /On land of free, the sacred flag?
Now, if that is ANYTHING like the actual song, I wouldnt be caught dead singing it, even if I was a Latino.
You could get a better translation from Freetranslation.com that the above.

Anyone who channels Bender is my friend. :D
One hand I think anyone should be able to sing the anthem in their own language, but on the other I'm mad because under these circumstances it sounds like just a forceful piece of political propaganda and reminds me why I used to take a more negative side on the whole issue.
They'd probably get a whole lot more support if they didn't try to force Spanish on everyone... and unless you've been denied a job because you can't speak Spanish, don't even try to say it's not being forced.
