WASHINGTON — President Bush named Tony Snow to be his next White House press secretary on Wednesday in the latest round of staff changes in the West Wing.

"I am here to break some news," Bush told the White House press corps in the briefing room. "I have asked Tony Snow to be my press secretary. Tony knows many of you already. He agreed to take the job anyway."

Snow, host of FOX News Talk's "The Tony Snow Show" and former "FOX News Sunday" anchor, will replace outgoing spokesman Scott McClellan. Snow had been mulling the White House's offer for the last several days.

“I am very excited and I can’t wait,” Snow said. “I want to thank you, Mr. President, for the honor.

This is a wise move in my opinion for he will have an active role in policy debates (according to the Washington Post breaking news email I received)

So I guess he no longer has to pretend to be fair and balanced.

I see no one bothers to read the link that he actually criticizes the President on certain issues but yet the Press also has the up most respect for him.

I see no one bothers to read the link that he actually criticizes the President on certain issues but yet the Press also has the up most respect for him.

According to your article, only one person said that: a politician from Texas:

Snow is a good choice for the position because he has a good reputation, said Martin Frost, former Texas Democratic representative.

"I think he was a good choice and I think it's good for the president to put somebody out with somebody like Tony who has credibility and let's hope that people can work together in Washington a little bit more," Frost said.

Some critics point to Snow's criticisms of the president's policies in the past, but Frost said he'll just have to tamp them down those in his new position.

"I think Tony obviously has credibility ... He's somebody that the press respects. He'll obviously have to tone things down a little bit if he's criticized the president on some past issues. He's the president's spokesman now and he can't differ with the president," Frost said.

Are you trying to say that Frost is an expert on media relations, or that he speaks for the press? No one from the press says he has a lot of respect from the press, and a good reporter should have a long history of challenging the government, not just some criticism on a few issues.

For many people, this decision merely reinforces the idea that Fox is merely a mouthpiece for the White House.

And Martin Frost has apparently developed a new line of work besides lobbyist for Texan ex-politicians - working for FOX news.

So now can we all stop pretending that Faux News is anything other than a propaganda arm for the Bush administration?

Or do we all still have to smile and nod at the "fair and balanced" thing?

Then explain why that Tony Snow has criticized the President, THIS PRESIDENT, in the past.

"You’ve got a guy in Iran saying we’re going to build a nuclear weapon."

That's an absolutely shocking thing to say. Iran have repeatedly denied being interested in building a nuclear weapon. They may well be lying, but that's beside the point. If this is what he is prepared to say as a media 'neutral', just imagine the sort of deceitful, hateful rehetoric we've to expect from him in his new role.

Plus, his explanation of high crude oil prices is pathetic.

I am shocked, shocked that O' Reilly didn't cut his mike off at that point for spinning. It must be the very first time he allowed some spinster to continue with his lies.

In case you're wondering, I never watch Fox News.

How very surprising that Bush would pick a Fox news pundit to be the White House spokesman. Oh wait, no it isn't. Carry on with this non-news story as if it matters.

oh and lol @ snow job

And that means nothing now.

When was the last time you heard the spokesman say "The President is way off on this?"

Now he will be parroting what ever they want.

Yep. But I'm sure that going from FOX to being Bush's lackey won't be much of a change for him.
