5) The White Stripes
6) Broken Social Scene
7) Weezer
9) Nirvana

Not even going to touch top 10 songs, I could be here all year trying to decide.

Surprisingly hard to pick top albums, so I limited myself to one per band. Even then, so many other albums by so many other bands could have been up there.

My top 10 list changes on a regular basis, but these artists have, at some point, contributed immensely to my enjoyment.

1. Agalloch - Pale Folklore - The Misshapen Steed
2. Dead Soul Tribe - A Murder of Crows - In a Garden Made of Stones
3. Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth - Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns)
4. Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children - An Eagle in Your Mind
5. Neurosis - A Sun That Never Sets - The Tide

7. Jethro Tull - Aqualung - Wond'ring Aloud
8. Silly Wizard - Live Wizardry - The Blackbird
9. Anathema - A Natural Disaster - Balance
10. Nick Drake - Pink Moon - Things Behind The Sun

I couldn't care less about guitar solos. It's the song as a whole that matters to me.

Well, it may not all be "rock" but it's close enough. Here we go!

Bands: in approximate order, I'll just thoss up my favorite album by each
1) Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble / Texas Flood
2) The Jimi Hendrix Experience / Electric Ladyland
3) Led Zeppelin / Led Zeppelin II
4) Cream [or any other Clapton] / Generally I only listen to live Clapton tracks, he's spectacular live but I find his studio stuff pretty bland.
5) Neil Young [CSN&Y, Buffalo Springfield etc.] / Harvest
6) The Doors / Self Titled
7) The Who / Who's Next
8) Pink Floyd / Dark Side of the Moon
9) Queen / Jazz
10) ZZ Top / Tres Hombres

It's too late to think up a list of my favorite solo's so I'll just throw a couple of my favorites out there:

Knopfler/ Sultans of Swing
Hendrix/ Little Wing
Vaughan/ Texas Flood
Clapton/ Crossroads
Satriani/ Satch Boogie
Jimmy Page/ White Summer, Since I've Been Loving You
Honourable mention goes to Mr. Van Halen for Eruption
I tend to enjoy blues-guitar rather than heavy metal shredding, to each his own.

5. Therapy?
They're doing an acoustic set in HMV in Belfast on Friday, followed by a DJ set in a pub/club place in Belfast, also on Friday. Contemplating whether or not to go...

DJ sets only £4 in, and I imagine the acoustic set will be free. HMV is about a minute walk from my work, and I finish at 5, so I'll probably go along to see what the craic is.
