Happy Easter to all Greek Orthodox Christians on the forum, as well as anyone else who's celebrating Easter today :)
Christos Anesti!
Your Greek Orthodox? I thought the only Christians on here were Catholic or Protestant....

I live right across the street from a Greek Orthodox church, and they were jam packed today. They generally have good attendance, but the cars were everywhere this time.

Yea, way back in the day the Church of Rome (The Roman Catholic Church) split from the church of Byzantium. Hundreds of years latter, the Protestants did the same with the Catholics. We were still chillin' in Constantinople, where the seat of the Orthodox church remains to this very day.
Not alot of Americans know about Orthodoxy because the history we learn is mostly thr history of Western Europe, in which Catholosism and Protistantism were the two sects of Christianity in modern history.

*Cough*
If i am not mistaken does not the Bishop of Rome predate the Patriach of New Rome (Constantinople)?!?!?! which would lead me to deduce that infact it was the orthodox that broke away! i seem to remember the the Patriachs of Rome, Jerusalem, Antioch and Alexandria as being the first, New ROme had to wait until the establishment of the city by Constantine as the new capital of the Empire.
it is with good reason that the Pope holds the old latin and pagan title, Pontifex Maximus.
