But we're dealing in percentages, so even if the average intelligence of an NS General participant is far above that of the average human being, 25% and only 25% of us still must fit into each category.

I guess it really depends on what you're measuring. A lot of people on here are intelligent, but haven't used their intelligence for anything, and there are just as many people who perhaps aren't brilliant but have made a lot out of their life. Or there are the very attractive people, and they very unattractive people, or perhaps you mean overall life quality in which case there are those happily married with children and those who have been divorced a few times and live with their mother.

It really depends on what you're measuring...

That's when it comes down to a matter of context and relativity. I happen to be intelligent in a large number of fields: advanced mathematics, the sciences (social and physical), history, a bit with music (though I admit I haven't fostered this at all).

I tend to write all my papers at the last absolute moment. My Comp 110 teacher hates it because it's such high-quality work that never goes through any physical drafts.:cool: I write the best papers in the class without any revision on the part of my peers. I'm like a god at my school. I hear rumors of juniors through freshmen who think so anyway.:D And I know I've intimidated through force of eccentricity my senior class into thinking so.

well I put top 25% as on the only test I haven't broken (they can't give me those ones where they ask questions till you fail as I don't fail) I got 99.96% (I would have beaten that test too but they asked a question about christianty (can't spell in english) which I didn't know as i'm an atheist whos never done religious education)

Well, the tests I've taken have indicated I'm in the top 2-5% everywhere... so I think it's a fair guess that unless NS is made up of supergenius stock, then I'm in the top 25% here. And that's not arrogance... I hadn't actually expected to be there when I took the tests. I was figuring on being more average.

Does anybody here actually know their IQ? Mine is supposedly 150 but I'm afraid to get retested. You never know what might have happened since I was 12.

I went for 2nd quarter, my IQ is apparently 138 and i would not put my answer down to arrogance as it is one of the few things I do see myself as being good at.

Ok, technically there is a very narrow window of opportunity to place yourself in the same category as I placed myself, but this is only a region of only 2.75% of the whole even if you assume the 95% referred to are the bottom 95%. :)

The only reason this seems to show arrogance is because so few of the people in the lower percentiles will post in here, and so few Generalites will probably even look at this thread.

For the record, my IQ was, when I was last tested officially, was close to 150. Then again, as Ilie pointed out, a lot can change in 8-10 years, although I do believe it's gotten higher since then in myself.

Underage? I don't think they really put age limits on them. In fact, the ubiquitous they like to compare results based on age. I don't know why: it doesn't accurately reflect anything.

Brains can be measured in many different ways. Some of you could say I am an idiot because I cannot spell to save my life (that is why everything is typed on word first). But I know a lot about explosives, marshal arts, ballistics, engines, and I understand the way the human mined works. (8th grade). I know a little about html (still working on), I know some of Japanese and I can decipher codes and create difficult ones (these are to a small extent). I am also great at strategy games like stronghold crusader and Age of empires.

I put myself in the bottom 25% since to do otherwise would be arrogant since there is no objective measure of smartness given in the question. There probably some measure of smartness that would put me in the top 25%. There probably is some measure of smartness that would put me in the bottom 25%. Therefore, there is no absolute accurate answer so to assume a measure will be chosen that favours me would be arogant so I will be humble and assume a measure that is unfavourable to me.

EDIT: Just as a funny comment, every online IQ survey on a forum I have seen has placed over 50% of posters in the top 2.5% of IQs aka the superior level aka the highest achievable standard grouping on IQ tests aka an IQ of 130 or above aka the IQ required to enter MENSA.

EDIT2: Just to be precise, looking over the polls again is seems that usually about 70-75% of posters classify themselves in the range of 130 and up. Is that an accurate representation of actual IQs of posters? Is that IQ an good measure of poster smartness? We'll never know.
