Do you ever just get annoyed and wish there was an ":sniper:" option in real life when someone just goes off on their views of sexuality?

In my class, there's a kid who feels it is his duty to tell everyone his opinion about gats and how they shouldn't be allowed to live. He also says "How gay" and "That's gay" alot.. he gets on my nerves and he never listens to anyone elses opinions.. biast righty bastard!

And those who feel the need to make it known that they are gay, strait, whatever..

Though frankly, one does weary of the same topics over time... :p ...but by all means, discussion is always a good thing.

I get very annoyed with people of all sexualities discussing their sexuality in classes where it is completely irrelevant. Like, when we were discussing descriptive linguistics, two gay people felt a need to spout off about their sexuality. What that has to do with the way the human vocal organs produce speech and how the IPA depicts that is beyond me.

However, when it is valid, then I have no problem with it. Noone should EVER say that people don't deserve to live.

Disagree. There's a certain girl that I wish had told me she was gay. It can be both a good and bad thing.

Every time that someone goes off on some tangent, be it gay rights or gay bashing, I couldn't care less; until there is some actual physical threat.

Until then, I simply do not want to hear all these sob stories.

The same goes for any other whining. Group therapy. Bah.

I don't care if people tell me about their sexuality or wish to discuss sexuality with me. I do care if somebody attacks my views, and I do care if somebody attempts to shove their views down my throat but I don't really care if they want to talk about them.

However, if it is a tangent it will bother me. Although, 99.9% of verbal tangents really bother me...

Have you tried "That's nice, but it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Do you have anything relevant to add?" then moving on with the original topic?

It seems that in a classroom, it is somewhat up to the teacher to keep the discussion on topic. Outside the classroom, you may have to do it yourself.

And sometimes discussions shift topics. And sometimes sexuality IS a valid topic and if it makes you uncomfortable, it is up to YOU to excuse yourself and go elsewhere. Or offer up another topic and see who runs with it.

Maybe the guy in your class isn't sure of his own sexual orientation and is trying to assert what he believes it *should* be, rather than what it might (or might not) be turning into.

Imagine his home life, with perhaps his dad telling him all his life how sick and/or evil gay people are, and maybe he's got a little twinge of weird feelings going on, and yet "--- this can't be happening!! ---" is all he can think so all he can do is spout off about how NOT gay he is, KWIM?

Just a thought.

Rhis person sounds like a classic case of the insecure, self-hating closet case to me. Its been my experience that men who constanty decry homosexuality are usually the most insecure about their own sexuality. :confused:

It runs both ways, you don't really notice it most of the time, but those who don't fit into the "normal" way things work do. Guys talking about their girlfriends, getting very graphic about sex, kissing in public, holding hands, the constant nauseating boy/girl pairings in everything.

Now, put a gay couple in any of those situations and we have people who are at their most tolerant "annoyed".

It's sad that so many people use their sexuality to define themselves. I think it's a terrible way to live. People are so much more than their sexuality.

I've got a guy like that in my class as well. In our first physics class, our teacher said that there is attraction between mass, and he looked at the guy when he said it. Now he keeps bitching about it... And I agree with some other people, he's probably a homosexual and doesn't want anyone to know, and therefore overcompensates.

but in all seriousness, i feel the need to mention my sexuality in certain scenarios because people just assume i'm straight. and i'm a fucking flamer!

for example, in my psych class we were discussing personality types, and i described a person i was dating at the time as possessing certain characteristics that made that person somewhat incompatible with me. i was very careful not to mention the fact that i was dating a guy, because whenever i use homosexuality to elucidate a point no one listens to me and i accomplish nothing. but then my teacher said "i think you should dump her" and somebody shouted "is she hot?" or something along those lines, so i felt the need to mention that she was in fact a he. i'm not sure if people heard me, because i drew a few blank stares. anyway i lost massive respect for my teacher that day due to his heterocentrism. lame.
