What does this mean?

My left arm is rather numb, to the point where it's rather difficult to type with the hand. Further, my heart won't stop racing, yet I'm just sitting here calmly, not doing anything that would cause that.

And no, I haven't been holding my arm to where it could fall asleep. It just suddenly became numb.

I don't know what it means, but I would just sit quietly for a moment and rest your arm from using your mouse....also take a couple of slow breaths...but I am not medically qualified and I am just saying what I would do .....hope you feel better soon.

Do you feel an oppresion in the chest? Maybe you're having a heart attack. Take two aspirins and go to the hospital.

It might be a stroke, possibly.. How old are you?

I'm nineteen.

Iztatepopotla: No, not really, but even if I did, I can't take aspirin. I'm actually allergic to it. Really rare allergy, I hear.

If you're unsure, you really SHOULD seek medical help.

I'm nineteen.Well, that's a bit young for strokes and/or heart attacks. Still, you might want to get the opinion of a doctor, rather than random people on the internet when it concerns your health.

If you are in the UK, I think you should call NHS Direct, they will screen you and ask you the right questions to know if you need urgent medical help or advise you on what best to do...

Well, apart from the heart racing and numbness in my arm, I feel perfectly fine. No pressure in my chest, no slurred speech, nothing. Hence why I decided to ask here instead, as I knew we have resident nurses and doctors, and thus it's cheaper than going to my own doctor.

That said, I haven't had a check-up for a while. I should probably set up an appointment.

Hemorrhagic Stroke
Alternate Names : Brain Bleeding, Brain Hemorrhage, Stroke - Hemorrhagic

My mom is a teacher and during an exam, one of her students switched hands because it became too difficult to write with her normal hand and after a while she couldn't move it. later that day she went into coma i think.

Still... do talk to a professional. It's never a bad idea.

That I shall do, Kryo. I have, in fact, just gotten off the phone with my doctor; I'll be going in to see her in a few hours. A general check-up and the like.

Fuck. You got an appointment with your doctor just like that? Is her surgery seriously that quiet? Last time I booked an appointment I had to do it about a week in advance...and that was just to get results from a blood test.

That's why if it is a REAL emergency, I just go in. Yeah, might have to wait, but better than the old, "Got a bad cold? Ok, she'll see you in six weeks." BS.

Ah yes. Excellent.

Normally I'd be shocked to get an appointment so fast, but I know when there is actually cause for worry, you can get in quicker than usual.

Yeah, but read the bit about why he's asking on here - "cheaper than going to the Doctor."

I think that given the choice between a little patience with non-emergencies and dying because I couldn't afford the medical fees, I know which way I'd go.

Oh, yeah. I was forgetting we have the NHS. I rarely go to the doctor anyway. Last time was for those blood test results, which told me nothing, and that was over a year ago. I went about a month before that as well, after nearly breaking both wrists, and was told to go down to A&E. Before that, I think the last time I went was when I was about 10.

Or just stress. I had that kind of shit before too. Turned ou to be nothing. But it might as well be something serious.
