BAGHDAD, Iraq — Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, under intense pressure to give up plans for a second term, agreed Thursday to let Shiite leaders reconsider his nomination, a step that could mark a breakthrough in the months-long effort to form a new government.
Nothing is official yet but it looks like al-Jaafari, who has been facing pressure from everyone to step down, has now given up his plans for a 2nd term.
This could jump start a formation of a new government and one can only hope, a stronger one.
