The rumors (http://www.aethiamud.org/communist_mario/) (alternative flash version (http://albinoblacksheep.com/flash/mariocommunist)) have been there for quite a while, but now new evidence (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/307402) (click on watch this movie) has surfaced.

Mario - a humble Italian plumber or a scheming communist villain?

PS. Given this new evidence, what is Nintendo's "Revolution" REALLY about?

The third link goes to where it does, but the flash doesn't show; otherwise, these flash movies do show an alarming trend... :D

Super-Mario - A red under the bed?

It's like when Bagpuss was hilariously turned into a political (and mainly communist) cartoon on some top 100 or another. The people on the show were talking about how the mice were the oppressed proletariat etc.

When the main writer for the show was interviewed all he said was "hmm... I thought it was about a cat..."

The People's Mario (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/307402) is quite new (from 4/15/06). I thought it was pretty funny.

Meh, could have been better. It's esstentially the same gag and nothing's been added. It would have been better if they'd made it more like a piece of soviet propaganda. More glorification of Mario and villification of the of the goombas. The music was quite monotonous throughout as well :p

But it was quite good, I'll admit. And I'm just being a grouch today.

Mario can't be a commie, his thirst for gold coins is second to no ones.

Mario can't be a commie, his thirst for gold coins is second to no ones. That was only because of the collapsing soviet economy. They needed to buy imports... either than he was just as corrupt as most other communist politicians of the USSR.

He just perceives it as a duty to aid his fellow men to not succomb to the temptations of riches, by making sure noone can find them. We must praise our noble comerade for his valiant actions !

Well his coins would always reset to 0 after he reached 100.

Perhaps he was re-distributing his wealth?

Of course.

Each set of 100 goes to a needy family in the kingdom while Mario is on his noble quest.

Perhaps he was re-distributing his wealth?Or maybe, after collecting 100 coins, he'd cook the books and make it look like he didn't any coins at all!

That'd make him an Enron accountant then!Uh... no... the Enron accountants were stupid enough to get caught, where as Mario gets praised as a hero.
