We didn't get those channels when I was growing up. I had to become a man the old-fashioned way - by defeating the others in my sibko and earning the right to manhood through grueling battlemech trials.

So, is this a good or bad thing?

Well, it seems to make people sexually active younger. Maybe it depends on how old you are how you would evaluate that.

Wow. Those articles are nearly two years old...

I'm surprised this hasn't been picked up on and more experiments done (and reported on). Whether it's worrying or not is difficult to establish. As a parent, would you be worried if your kid started to go through puberty at age 7?

Yea, I was surprised to see the study was two years old also. I just heard about it from an interview on public radio. A child psychologist was talking about the changes that youth are experiencing as compared to their parents. One of the subjects was early sex. She mentioned the study as a major contributor.

Generally anything that increases food in vs. food out brings on pubety earlier. It's as if your genes are saying, "Well, if food is so plentiful you can start using it to make babies!"

Does that mean that if I watch T.V enough I can grow a kick ass beard?

This is brilliant, so TV has some sort of ageing effect? If we rewind the tape, do we getyounger?

Artificial lighting is thought to have a more pronounced effect. It is hard to judge however, as imporved nutrition has also had an effect adn it is not esy to differentiate between the two.

So really, if you don't want your kids to go through pueberty but you still don't want to actually be a parent, stick them in a hamster wheel while they watch. If they don't run, at least you can laugh while they thud around the spinning wheel...

Don't worry, I know I'm a horrible person.

There's a downside to that?

Although torture of children does have it's downside, it is more important to stop them from becoming interested in sex.

Physical torture is better than thinking about sex: One million nuns can't be wrong.

Let's see... it used to be common to be married between 10 and 13 and to have children in your early to mid-teens. Now it's common to treat these ages as a part of childhood and for puberty and the onset of the ability to childbear later than when children used to be common. Seems like maybe there is more to it than their experiment addresses.

Actually, it was once thought that there was no such thing as adolescence. You went from a child to an adult at...correct me if I am wrong, at about 8-10 years old.

That other person is right in saying that people used to have kids pretty young. Mary from the Bible, anyone? Definitely a teenage mom and almost didn't marry.

P.S. You may go through puberty, but that doesn't mean you turn into a sex machine.

Actually, if one were to with an extension cord drag the TV outside on sunny days, melatonin would not be lowered, ergo TV is not the cause. Sitting on your fat ass inside the house is.

If a fat kid who has gone through puberty is still fat, he won't get laid.

Unless he has money and goes to the right part of town, but then even the crypt keeper could get laid doing that.

Bah! You weren't around in the summer of 3058, were you? Clanners coming out of everywhere! But we showed them, we did. At the Battle of Tukayyid! Then on Huntress and Strana Mechty we gave them a whippin' they'll likely never forget! Ye mark me words, boyo! They'll never forget that one!
