This is basically a place to discuss what religion you consider yourself, and why you have chosen this religion.

A combination of Gnostic (not agnostic, mind you), Buddhist, and a light sprinkling of Flying Spaghetti Monsterism.

No one religion seemed to fit, so I decided to go my own way. To paraphrase Bender:

Christian, more specifically Reformed and even more specifically Presbyterian.

Why? Simple, the view point of God and the soterology expressed by this group most accurately matches the development and views which I adopted from independent study and meditation over the years... As well as the viewpoint of the form, function and mode of governing the Church.

agnostic is not a religion

From the context of the poll it is. Agnostic is more specifically a philosophical view; howevere, since other philophical world-views are included (and are recognized as religions) not allowing for its including would do disservice to those who have adopted it... Agnostic is just as much a religion, since the poll includes Shinto, Daoist/Taoist, and Confusianism; thus providing context for what is meant by "religion" in the discussion.

A religion requires you to make a definitive statement about the nature of Deities...

In which case you should be arguing about the inclusion of Confusianism and Daosim as well... Since you're not, you obviously are not actually adopting this as a universal maxim...

From the context of the list, and other inclusive elements by the author, it is easy to suppose that the loose definition of "religion" is being used: Adherance to an ideology, cause or principle...

If the definition were to include only regognition of deity towards something then there would be things not in the poll such as the philosophies of Confusianism, Taosim and the naturalism of Shinto... If it were only limiting to the organization then there would also be a lack of inclusion of Hindu and Buddist... Since Hindu is included, there can be no reliance upon the institution as an element in the definition, and since the inclusion of Confusianism and Taoism there can be no reliance upon elements of spirituality and deity inclusive for the definition.

I teetered on it for abit as well, though I pretty much agree with the PCA in general; a woman is no more eligible for ordination than someone who is single or childless... Pastors and Elders wives and children are as much part of his qualifications as any other work he has done... And I've seen candidates being removed consideration before over their home life under issues as simple as weak family worship.

I voted other, because I just don't know what I am. I'm not agnostic or anything wishy-washy like that - I have very clear beliefs, they just contradict eachother, overlap, and shift liquidly like a big oily bowl of belief-soup.

Fundamentally I'm an athiest, but some religions have cool stuff (discordianism, christianity, the church of the Subgenius, rastafarianism, the church of Satan, the church of Elvis, etc.), so I pick morals, philosophy, mythology and jokes from all of them in whatever configuration I feel like.

primarily because the overwhelming majority fall into the "other category," which clearly indicates that ze should have taken the time to specify a few more religions, and secondarily because several of the options on this poll are completely compatible with one another (i'm thinking buddhist-daoist-shinto-confucians), so ze ought to have made it possible to select multiple responses.
