I can't see why the US and Iran can't get along.

Sure the US used the Shah to guarantee Iranian oil exports, and aided Iraq in fighting Iran. And yes, it's true that Iranians took US hostages, Iranian backed Hezbollah blew up a bunch of Marines in Lebanon and the Iranian Quods force directed the operation to blow up Americans at the Khobar towers in Saudi Arabia. So why can't the Iranians trust that the US has their best interests at heart and why can't the Americans just accept that Iran really doesn't hold a grudge against us and won't develop nuclear weapons?

Seriously folks, sooner or later we're going to war.

That should be the US national motto. It's been its standard for quite some time...

Oh, it surely would be in latin. I mean, "E pluribus unum" isn't exactly all that and a bag of chips in English.

No. Just because both sides have wronged each other in the past, doesn't mean that there must be a final and decisive war. Remember, these things were in the past, they don't have to be the future. Maybe both countries should just leave each other alone for a while (decades)?

A war would just breed more resentment and hate, unless it was a war of complete destructon and reconstruction, like WWII and Germany. But after seeing what the US did In Iraq and Afghanistan, I don't think that the world's superpower has the political will to do that.

Considering the fact that Iran has continued anti-American terrorism into the 1990's and as late as 2002 had Hezbollah cells in the United States, the US isn't going to tolerate them having nuclear weapons and will in all likelyhood use military force if diplomacy doesn't work.

Also Iran is afraid of the US and people who are afraid often use really poor judgement. Recall how Saddam did nothing to dispell the notion that he still had WMD? He probably thought that the US would be less likely to attack if they thought chemical or biological weapons would be used. Iran, similarly, is publicly announcing their military buildup and acting belligerant in an effort to scare the US. This will probably end up provoking the US.

that reminds me of this quote from The Reckoning, one of my favorite movies:
You want to know why... I did what I did? Because I wanted to... and because... I could.

Yeah.

Maybe it's not gonna be because of Iran or any of the middle-east (though I predict it will), I have a feeling that a nuke will be dropped on someone (maybe even us) within the next ten to twenty years.

I'm not even debating that, I'm completely sure of it, the way things are going now.
