I just got my 3 year visa extension - meaning I'll have comfortably missed out on all of the Bush years. (Note: I'm equally happy to have missed out on living through the Bill Clinton years.)
I'll see what happens in 2008 - maybe I'll stay maybe I'll return home to the states.

Japan is much less forgiving about that than the US.... I'd rather not spend the prison time...

Should clarify that - I've missed out on all the W years. I only missed out on Poppy"s first year. But that's OK - I liked him alright.

I don't think life under Bush/Clinton/Bush has been all that different from life other times. Irritations, perhaps, but it doesn't really change the things you do all that much which idiot is in office at the time. Neither has made sweeping changes like a draft, or total socialization or anything, that would make huge actual life-changes for everyone. And while perhaps they'd each have gone for one of those, I don't think the country would take it...

Yes, well I'd much rather have the US take Japan's approach to immigration. Perhaps if we were a little less arrogant and would just take our cue from other nations, we wouldn't have such a huge problem with it, eh? :D

Must be nice to not be exposed to the current trend of American sanctioned idiocy that the Bush administration happily exports.
