I think the immigration thing has more to do with trying to win favor with the people, if nothing elce distract them from a corupt government.

Mexico likes U.S. emigration. Otherwise, their government might have to actually fix their own problems.

Agreed. I wish that more and more often the US media, public opinion, and politicians start to call the Mexican government on their subhuman treatment towards other immigrants. Really, not even animals behave this way.

What the U.S. should do is give Mexico a hand with their economic situation.

Rights for Illegal Aliens. Wow. The whole premise of the term is that they shouldn't be here! Anyway, yeah Mexico should definitely evaluate their own policies before they try to mooch off of our not taking action against the Aliens in question.

We need illegal immigrants! Who is gonna pick your oranges? Do crappy jobs americans won't apply for like dish washing in the restaurant industry? Who is going to make your beds at motel 6? Without illegals, the price of everything in the service industry is gonna go up, because pay would have to go up substantially to attract 'americans' to those jobs. Ya'll better learn to start cooking or start saving for that McDonald's burger.

Legal workers will. If that's not profitable, machines will pick my oranges and the factories that manufacture them will hire highly paid workers.

Let the prices go up. Prices in the USA are unbelievably low compared to the rest of the developed world. If we mowed our own lawns, or had to spend $10 on a double quarter pounder with cheese, maybe we wouldn't be the fattest nation on earth.

When I was growing up, I DID dishwashing jobs in restaurants. I would have picked oranges if they grew in the Midwest. Americans will do those jobs without "help" from the illegals. The illegal employers just want a bunch of poor losers that they don't have to pay a decent wage.

I have to stand by my last post, Illegal is the main word there. We should definitely ease the process for legal immigration, but we should try to crack down on illegal immigration too. Not sure how accurate this is, but my roommate claims that a LOT of Mexico's income is comprised of salaries sent back to Mexico from illegals. But, we don't need illegal immigrants. Sure, they make great roofers and builders, but if they're not there, we can get some of those lazy bastards who mooch off of welfare to finally get jobs, specifically those. And, they don't pay taxes. They're soaking up wealth from our country.

Well, if nothing else it might help deter illegal immigration through fear of getting raped/molested/deaded. Always a good thing.

I agree. I've worked at a Wendy's for about four years now (I'm in college,) and there are plenty of people in my area who do the same thing. There are lots of kids who help pick strawberries, peaches, and the like from orchards, and none of us are illegal immigrants. If we have a big enough labor force from our own citizens, so should the border states. Employers in those regions just want to maximize their profits by hiring immigrants instead of paying minimum wage to Americans (actually, they may not even have to pay minimum wage; in Ohio, at least, agricultural businesses are exempt from the minimum wage laws, although they certainly do pay a living wage to their employees!)

Wow, this just made me change my ideas on immigration. The media should stop this stupid spin. Mexico is worst than us on immigration, and should stop being so damned hyprocritcal.
