Paxilon Hydrocholrate.

So I watched that Serenity movie on dvd today with my girl.

She asked me if I thought whether or not the government would do something like adding paxilon to our water or food if they thought they could get away with it.

I told her that, in my opinion, there is no fucking doubt that they would do that: with the only caveat being that they wouldn't do it until they had some form of anti-agent for themselves.

She left in a snit. And now claims I am a communist or somesuch.

Anyway, what say you nationstates. Do you believe that the government would poison you if they thought it was in their best interest?

I'll put a poll up if there is enough interest in this thread.

Anyway, what say you nationstates. Do you believe that the government would poison you if they thought it was in their best interest?Yes, although it wouldn't be poison, they'll create a highly addictive drug and put it in the water supply, then when we're all addicted stop putting it in the water supply and make us "earn" more drugs.

I’ve never seen that movie, nor do I have any desire to, but I certainly believe the government would use some sort of mind control device if they had the technology. Wouldn’t even have to do it secretly. The majority of American could probably be convinced it’s for their own good and part of the War against Terror (or whatever the favorite boogieman is when this technology comes about).

On a side not, did you really type the words, “my girl."?

If they could get away with it, they would. Honestly, pretend for a moment that you are a money-hungry machine; if you had some way to make MORE money to fund your other schemes without consequence, why wouldn't you?
The hard part of that is the sheer planning and skill it would take. I mean, there are plenty of substances that are colorless and odorless, but how many useful things can you use to contaminate water (or any other much-used product) without detection? If any one person discovered it, it wouldn't be hard to prove...and soon you'd have too many pissed off people to cover up.

Yes, I did indeed type the the words my girl. Our relationship is a little ambiguous, so I don't know what else to call her. Anyway, she's a privacy Nazi, so honestly she would probably prefer the misnomer in online discussions in any case. (If you live in the new york area you may well have seen her on the local news, and she doesn't like the attention.)

The movie is not that bad, though it is not something I would have chosen to watch myself. I did like the anti-government message.

You could always just have said, “girl I’m sleeping with,” instead of using an irritating phrase like, “my girl.”
(If you live in the new york area you may well have seen her on the local news, and she doesn't like the attention.)
If she’s on the local news reguraly, she must be hot. Congratulations.
Although, if her reaction is anywhere near the impression I got about it from your description she sounds very immature, intolerant and perhaps a little vacant mentally.

Obviously, that is so much better. Thankyouveryfuckingmuch, it never occured to say that before. Nor have I ever used the expression "my girl" in front of her either. I'm clearly shit talking her behind her back. Yes, that is what it is.

She's not on it regularly. And frankly, I find your terminology sexist.

Wait what? I think you’re confused. I could care less if you’re talking behind her back. The phrase irritates me because I find it to be annoying. That’s the issue.

I think you need to reprioritize your life.

Research shows that a balanced and happy life emphasizes these three things in this order:

1. Undelia
2. MS Paint
3. Sex
4. Money
5. Porn

Do I beleive the government would? That depends on who's in charge and whether people actually hear about it and try to fight it or not. Do I beleive there would be people dumb enough to actually consider it as a good thing? You've only got to look at all of the people who beleive in total pacifism as a workable theory for day to day existence to know there isn't a whole lot of crazy crap people won't eventually demand.

Well, this proved my point anyway.

Most people would rather argue about sexism or fuck around than wonder whether the government would actually poison them.

Thanks to those who gave considered repsonses however.
