Global warming causing artic ice to melt and Oil companies celebrate by drilling for oil.

Uh huh, anyone else other than me finding this weird? Large dependency on oil releases lots of CO2 and in turns warms the globe and melts the Artic ice. The loss of artic ice makes it possible to prospect for oil in the artic (which is now predicted to hold 1/4 of oil reserves)...

Right...

edit: damn... I ran out of title space

What? I don't understand.

There is no such thing as global warming but we are going to fight for fishing rights in the Northern Ocean, forminally known as the Artic Icecap.

Global Warming does exist. Notice world tempoerature increases? That's the world (Global) getting warmer, right? (warming.) Thus, GLOBAL WARMING.

Technically, it's called climate change, so have a cookie.

I like the last paragraph.

BP said it was not using the research to prospect in the Arctic and that geological surveys could be misleading: "Very often it's intended to get you an indication, not necessarily of oil in a particular place, but what there might be in adjacent areas. You only find oil and gas if you actually drill."

Ooh, yeah. We're not actually looking for oil and gas, we just happen to be funding and organising a major geophysical survey in an area almost guaranteed to have substantial reserves.

You only find gas if you actually drill? Thats the goddamn easy part! Jeez, that's like saying we're not actually trying to rob a bank, cos we're going to stop at the vault door. Assholes.

I am. :) Climate change is more accurate, as some parts of the world are forecasted to cool, some warm - general destabilisation. But yeah... nevermind

"Climate change" is the new mantra. It's a perfect excuse to not care. I mean giving a shit would actually take some effort, while NOT giving a shit can be summed up in two words. Which one's easier?

More people oppose it when you call it global warming than when you call it climate change.

The US is supposed to get warmer...fine by me. I'd be pissed if it were getting colder around here since it's bad enough as is.

I can't understand how he could breath salt water but not drink it. If he had the same osmotic value as a human his gills would shrivel up.

Cos he's Mel Gibson, the movie wouldn't sell if he was all shrivelled. Duh.

Actually, I think it was Kevin Costner in Waterworld.
