what's your ambition?

do you have one? what is it? have you already fulfilled it? do you have lots of them?
i've been wondering about my own recently. sometimes i think i'd be quite happy working in the same bar forever as long as i have my friends, music, books, car and computer but at the same time i think i can achieve much more than this.
so at the moment my ambition is either: to be a mechanic for a WRC team, or, to be an archaeologist specialising in the first state-level societies of Mesopotamia, or to be a jobbing archaeological excavator if i can't be bothered doing a further degree.

Well, one of my ambitions was to leave Germany and try living somewhere else. I accomplished that 3 years ago.
My next ambition is to stop being a contractor and either get a permanent job at the company I work for right now, or else maybe to get back into my original profession and start in a library somewhere here.
In private life, I'm trying to rebuilt a circle of friends. I had one when I first came here, but most of the people left, some of the people are not on speaking terms any more, etc., and I ended up pretty isolated.

I've got a personal ambition - to get married and to have a family. On that one, I'm pretty much there (married, kid on the way).
I've also got a professional/academic goal - to get my PhD in something, either medical imaging or cosmology (haven't quite decided yet), and make my way into the big, bad world of research from there. As I've already gotten my honours degree in physics, I'm pretty much on schedule for that one too!
My short term ambition is to write a novel
My long term ambition is to reach master-level at chess.
I don't have career ambitions. I hope I never do, either; by the time I care about my job, it'll mean I have nothing more interesting in my life.

Short term: (one to two years)
get my 21st birthday celebrations sorted in the next month... causing me stress (but anything's better than last year when the only people to even remark on my birthday were my parents and people on this forum...)
spend more time with glitziness and go on holiday with her sometime.
show her how much i love her somehow and do whatever i can to keep us going strong as long as i can (i ain't letting her go! :D)
get back into college (UK 6th form college that is)
Medium term: (two to five years)
get a couple more a-levels (maths), move out of parents' place, get life sorted, go to uni to study architecture, become a conceptual/design architect, live with glitz :)
get more photography kit and take more and a greater range of photos, as well as get good at playing drums (and play in a band for fun... preferably a jazz band! woo :D)
[edit: lose weight and get laser eye surgery]
Long term: (five-to-ten years plus)
raise a family as well as i can, have kids, have a nice house by the beach somewhere warm (with mountains in the background!), hold down that job i enjoy and grow old with my loving wife. not much really - just some peace and quiet and stability. some would call it boring but my parents had a pretty "interesting" time while i was growing up and i'd much rather things be simple and dependable.
travel a lot and see much of the world
get some of my photos either printed or exhibited in some fashion.
finish writing my novel. and in real fantasy-land ambition, turn it into a movie :D
edit:
Get a page on IMDb - Done

make money selling the various games i have created/am creating
the list goes on... mostly near the "eat tasty food" and "take of the world" ends of the spectrum though :p
