Additionally, nobody, not even Britain would support the US in such a venture. It's impossible too, given how thinly stretched the US military is. Regime change in Iran would be an even larger mission than Vietnam. If there is any military action it would just be, at the very most, some limited bombing á la Iraq in 1998.

The first time I read that last part, there was no sarcasm. It simply ended with a call to Jesus Christ to arise and wipe out your country. Which's quite ironic, given the context.

Anyway, the problem with being in a democracy is that the leader has to do what the masses agree with. And doing that is the thing that "he feels is right". So if he does what he feels is right, he has to not do what he feels to be right, which is spreading democracy. And if he must do what he feels to be right, he will not be doing what he feels to be right, which is executing democracy.

Either way, if the public tells him to back off, he must back off.

I'm going to bow out gracefully now, not because I've been defeated, but because I can take the hypocrisy no longer! It's obviously not "cool" to think for yourself, or have your own opinion in here!
