IIRC the first thing discussed by an MEP on the floor of the European Parliament was tabled by Ian Paisley and was a complaint that the Union Flag was upside down.

The Mexican flag, flying above an inverted American flag, both of which are against protocol for flying the American flag. The only time it's appropriate to fly the American flag upside down is when there's a legitimate emergency, usually aboard ship.

Not true. That's just another one of those myths that people believe without checking it out. It's been painted white since 1798, and it was known as "the White House" by some by 1811, a full year before the burning.
