This is a first hand account - my own ghost story and in fact, as I write this, my personal poltergeist is haunting my unit.

You see, when I moved to Toronto from Ottawa (hell on earth), I wound up in an apartment building that looks clean, has nice people and is in a good neighbourhood. In other words, not like your typical haunted house location.

So, for the last three and eventually four years come June, we've been sharing the unit with a poltergeist, a very strange one.

You see, we're not one only ones subject to this little ghostly visitor, many other residents have a very similar little fellow lurking about. There are people with their own stories here.

The source for the ghost was that it's possibly an ancient burial ground that we're living on top of and that the spirits are haunting the place.

Cubboard doors have been known to rattle (and the cat was in the room with us).

Lights have flickered (and no, we're on a very strong part of the power grid).

My TV goes blank without turning off, my computer reboots itself and watches have been known to reset themselves when they've been in my room.

Think I'm kidding about the watch? It's true. I remember my ex-boyfriend taking off his watch and putting it on the floor and when he picked it up a few minutes later, the time was flashing: 12:00 on his watch, much like how an unset digital clock would.

And those strange ringing sounds at night? Ghostly chants...

aaaand nothing (much).

I'm sorry, I don't believe in ghosts. But I think I hallucinated once.

A friend of my brothers claims to have a ghost in their dorm room. (Weird knocking sounds from outside and such)

not sure that I can empirically prove anything, but when I first moved to AZ we lived in this apartment and I keep thinking I saw a guy walking down the hall, just back and forth, it scared the crap out of me, and since hubby was working 18 hour days I was home alone and pregnant so no eye witnesses, anyway, it wasn't 2 weeks later that I was in the hospital having my kid, and my in laws stayed at our house, now hubby knew what I had saw and didn't really tell anyone (since he thought I was crazy) but my father in law came to the hospital the next day and told me our apt. was haunted and that he had seen a guy walking up and down the hall  it almost scared the baby right out of me. He and hubby swear that they had never discussed it before that point. A month or so after I got out of the hospital, I woke up with a man standing over my bed, I was so scared, I tried to move to check on the baby who was in the bassinet near the foot of the bed but I couldn't I rustled enough to wake up my husband and he said he saw someone run down the hall and dissappear.

i don't really have too many good ones, but here's one that my friend experienced. we used to live in the dorms on the army post we're stationed at and she lived on the floor above me. she said she would go to work and when she would come back, this one ceiling tile in her bathroom would always be pushed to the side. she would also leave her rooms with the curtains shut and would come back with them wide open. sometimes when she would be sleeping, she'd have her radio turned on really low and all of the sudden, the volume would turn up really loud. i dunno...maybe there's a logical explanation for all of this, but i personally believe in ghosts, so i'll stick with that theory

Isn't 'true ghost story' an oxymoron?

My high school girlfriend woke up one night and saw her dead aunt sitting across the room from her... her aunt was staring at her.

Now this girl was a bit flighty at times, but she wasn't crazy. I suppose she could have been half asleep and just imagining it... who knows what she actually saw?

Just out of curiosity do you live near a large power substation or high tension lines? Sounds like some of the things a large magnetic field would do.

It was a dark and stormy night...and all in your head.
