Nothing like as good as a match in Russia (I think) where they had 312 minutes of extra time and basically all of the players and 3 referees had to be taken to hospital due to their injuries (at least one ref. was actually knocked unconscious).

Still, good value for money, seeing a match that long :)

And people claim there's a discipline problem among footballers?

coupla things:

1) I hope everyone wrote his name on his gloves and stick

2) Hockey is being played in England? Sweet.

Somebody explain why goalies _always_ fight goalies.

Has been for a long time (at least 15 years). Not that popular. Some teams have gone out of business due to lack of interest - Manchester (whatever they were) did a few years back.

And people claim there's a discipline problem among footballers?

One of the main reasons for that is sheer snobbery. A woman Government Minister was invited to the England RU changing room by the coach and one of the players pointed a finger at her whilst looming over and told her to F off. If a footie player and done that we would never hear the end of it.

That said there was a similar situation in rugby league when the then Prime Minister, John Major was taken to the changing rooms where one player was wearing nothing but a pineapple ring when he was introduced.

Apparently the excahange was:
"What's that?" asked John
"A pineapple ring." answered playr.

Straight forward really.

There was a professional rugby league game in England where team coach Maurice Bamford had found out that the prop (big bloke) in the opposing side had recently had his dog die. MB ordered his players to wind him up and eventually the prop lost his temper and a fight ensued involving twelve players in each side, with only the full backs staying out of it.

The ref finally calmed things down and sent off two players; the full backs, for cowardice.

okay...I like a good hockey fight as much as the next rabid hockey fan, but even I have to say what the fuck.

Okay, two guys fight till one gets a clear advantage. Cool. Problem over.
Both teams, including goalies (who never fight for a reason) fight for six minutes or more, and its just stupid. And the fans cheering them on piss me off. I don't know much about European leagues, but come on. A fight that big means that new rules will be passed making fighting completely illegal.

What the hell is it with the UK and their sports teams? And here I thought the Original 6 in the NHL were bad.

Ok I just want to say a few things on this subject. I have been playing hockey for 15 years which almost all 15 of have been as a goalie. Now my main comment is that fighting is a part of hockey, just have to get used to it. Hell in high school the benches cleared one game due to the fact we upset another team in overtime.

- All sports have fighting, its a fact of life and if you really want to point fingers look at the NBA and players attacking fans.

-goalie fights are the best, I mean really theres only two of you on the ice and if your getting shown up, nothing will make you feel better than kickin his ass. There so rare though because you get kicked out and suspended.

Now I dont think anyone here was against the fighting, I could be wrong but if you aree against it....then dont watch simple as that.

The only problem I have with it, is the guy without a shirt taking on a lady in the crowd, he throws water over her and the glass screen gets broken, its hard to see exactly what happens, but he seems to be a bit of an asshole.

Nothing like a nice bench clearing brawl eh. I play inline, and haven't seen a fight in one of my games for ages.

They don't. Kay Whitmore beat the tar out of Dino Cicarelli one time. The little coward turtled.
