A charter school teacher in Albany is out of the classroom and in the courtroom.

Police say Mark Holley gave a 10-year-old New Covenant student a wedgie during a summer school program sometime between July and August 2005.

The 41-year-old is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The mother of the boy told investigators she reported the alleged incident to school administrators immediately after it happened, but New Covenant did not file anything with the police department until January.

The principal of the school says Holley is on administrative leave.

As hilarious as that is, any teacher should know better than to lay a hand on a student. It's pretty much an instant termination. I hardly feel bad for him.

Physical torment by anyway, least of all a teacher, is unacceptable. Perticually given the offence involved the use of a 'wedgie', which would involve contact with the child's undergarments and is severely inappropriate contact.

I don't think wedgies are very nice. If I got wedgies frequently I'd prepare a special surprise for the next person who reaches into my underpants:D .... And it's not what you think it is!

Bingo. I never understood why anyone thought giving a "wedgie" was in any way appropriate. It's a physical assault. Anyone who tried it on me now would get a punch in the nose. :mad:

Of course not. And you're right. Wedgies should be reserved for your general demographic. But I think the reason why I don't give ten year olds wedgies isn't because I think they're inappropriate. I think the reason why is because other people think they're inappropriate. For instance: My boss. The police. The kid's parents.

I'm smart enough to know that there are certain lines you shouldn't cross even if it's your hobby to cross lines. Then again, I'm not a teacher. :p

That's not really much information to go on, but a teacher shouldn't be doing that sort of stuff.

At ten years, receiving a wedgie in front of the whole class can be very humiliating. Teachers are there to prevent that sort of behavior, and when a teacher commits such an act, they've proven they don't belong in a classroom.

Well, a wedgie on a 40yr old man is gonna be more painful than on a 10yr old boy, so the kid does have the advantage of fear over him.

I'd have no problem returning the favor if he did it to my kid. Except the teacher would need an antibiotic whirlpool to remove the underpants when I was through.

Doesn't say, but I reckon that an atomic wedgie should be the teacher's punishment. And the underwear has to have been worn for a week before hand. Not by the teacher either. A fat sweaty guy with poor personal hygiene would be ideal.
