Breakfast

Demented Hamsters

The other day was a public holiday, which allowed me the opportunity to tidy the flat. Whilst cleaning I came across two praline chocolates in my closet that had gone a tad moldy (as in green fur growing on them). I scrapped the mold off and ate them. Tasted a little odd, but no side effects (I was sort of hoping it might be ergot).
That and some juice was my breakfast for that day.

I eat anything that I would eat at any other time of the day for breakfast; chocoloate, chocolate cake, stir-fry...
Or sometimes I don't even eat breakfast :p

Odd? I don't really consider anything "odd".
Anyhow, cold Polish sausage sandwiches with strong mustard.

What's the oddest thing you've eaten for breakfast?

Depends on what you consider odd. I regularly eat popcorn, green salads, baked potatoes (with all the trimings), or instant ramen for breakfast. I once ate licorice ice cream for breakfast every day for a week. When I do my Buddhist retreats I eat brown rice porridge. When I sat at traditional Japoanese lodgings, I eat the standard breakfast of a Japanese omelette, miso soup, grilled fish, and pickles. When in Alaska, I ate fresh grilled salmon several times (straight from the river, to the pan, to the plate). A few years ago I spent my summer holiday on the beach where breakfast was beer and a hotdog everyday for a week. In Korea on vacation, I had rice and Kim Chi for breakfast several times.

I once made myself an ice-cream based dish, which was chocolate hobnobs stuck in vanilla ice cream (and there was a fair amount of it) with porridge oats sprinkled on top.

It was pretty good, but I don't think my body can stand anything with so many calories in again.

Ever eat pan cakes with bits of Oreos mixed in? Goes down good with a nice cold Turborg.

English breakfast.

It may be eaten daily around 8'o'clock, but it really ought to be named dinner.

No! Really! Who on earth thinks baked white beans in tomato-sauce are normal for breakfast?

Hmmm, I think ergot is kinda of like the "brown acid"; a bad trip. I've heard people run around, are sometimes homicidal and often die. If thats your thing though....well, then you might be a demented hamster.

a double bloody marry with chips'n'cheese with honey, peanut butter and lemon and lime marmalade on them.

also, i once ate an entire jar of green olives stuffed with pemento washed down with the brine that they come in followed by half a bottle of maple syrup.

needless to say i was very drunk for both of these breakfasts and was violently ill some time afterwards.

Great way to start the day. However, I usually go with gröt (translated into "porridge" but I really wonder if they are the exact same dish) or cereal under or within yoghurt.

Three tabs of acid.

BTW, You're lucky mold growing on chocolate doesn't contain ergot. I've read that stuff can constrict blood vessels causing necrosis of your fingers and toes and excruciating pain as your oxygen starved tissues start dying off.

Steak for breakfast? Cool. That's metalhead shit right there. In fact, the only way you could get more fucking metal (TM) is by eating a raw steak for breakfast.

Hmm, now that I think of it...

I really do eat weird breakfasts (when I eat them at all, which is only around half of the time).

The other day, I had chop suey, and a few days before that, tuna mornay. This morning, I had an iced coffee and a mars bar (at work). Cold barbeque (sausages, lamb chops, etc.) is a common one in summer. Occasionally i'll have chocolate. Maybe sardines or anchovies on toast, or macaroni and cheese, or instant ramen.

Oh, and yesterday, I had leftover raspberry cheesecake.

When I can be bothered, tuna/salmon patties or bacon and eggs are always good (but they're the extent of my culinary knowledge). I suppose fish patties are a bit weird, but eh.

Most cereals make me gag.

Cold Pizza...
I like English breakfast. Or Irish, even better. Baked beans are great for breakfast, and so is bacon and sausages. But I haven't got used to black or white pudding yet. Hash browns are brilliant, though.
Kippers are great, too.

This morning (I say morning, it was 2pm) I had 4 squares of dark chocolate and a lot of stilton with crackers. That was breakfast. I just had dinner consisting of a bowl of cereal and a glass of orange juice. I sense something wrong there.

Maybe i'm weird, but I think I like cold pizza (as in, fridge-cold pizza, not pizza that has been left out all night) better than warm pizza. Hmm.

Yeah, you're weird. I've found that if you want a crunchy (as opposed to crispy) base to your pizza in the morning, heat it in the microwave not the oven. Or have it soft and cold.

Warm pizza's great though, I don't know how you could like cold pizza more.

Gah, I should have clarified that I meant that I prefer cold pizza over reheated pizza... :p

...naturally, I prefer fresh warm pizza of course.

Ugh. This is what lack of sleep does to me! I begin making no sense whatsoever! ...wait a minute. I never make sense. Hm, carry on.

Posting at half 3 in the morning (that is the time where you are isn't it?) rarely gives sensible posts.

Posting on General rarely gives sensible posts either.

I'm with you on that. I like cold home-made pizza. I think those hours in the fridge gives it time for the theflavours to come out.

When I was working on farms, I used to come home and Mum would have made me dinner. Instead I'd eat weetbix for dinner and her dinner for breakfast. It made more sense to me to have a huge meal before heading off to do a full day's work than just going to sleep. But Mum got annoyed at me and in some weird convoluted female logic way thought me eating her dinner a few hours later showed I hated her cooking, so I had to stop doing it. Really noticed the drop in energy levels 1/2 thru the day.

Damn you, I was going to say lunch! ;)

Then again, given the quality (or lack thereof) of the local college cafeteria fare, maybe lunch isn't the oddest thing I've eaten for breakfast...

Cream of Wheat with a lot of butter and sugar, hot chocolate, a bowl of cereal, two pancakes with sweet cream butter and maple syrup, bacon, sausage, orange juice, and a tall glass of milk.

I've eaten that much plenty of times. I'd eat that every morning if I could, actually. It's a shame that I don't have the money to do just that. As for what I eat for breakfast (when I'm actually able to), it's usually something really small. A burrito or two hot dogs is the usual. Maybe some cereal.
