Conlanging
I don't mean to start a huge discussion about this, because there are many other places available to talk about conlangs.
I was just wondering how many people here know what conlangs are, create conlangs, and maybe the very basics of a conlang or two.
For those who don't know what a conlang is, it's a constructed
language.
I have only made one conlang: Velmaratht. I made it for my high school graduation project, but it was horrible. No moods, voices, very little vocabulary or anything else. I only had conjugations, tenses, and declensions in addition to an alphabet.
Since then I have only made a few very basic grammars and phonologies, no true languages.
I made the extremely basic language Ek for my NationStates nation - the idea is that it's the ancient language of The Fleeting Daydream Of Safalra, now only known from place names:

http://www.safalra.com/special/nationstates/winterartefact/
It's basically Kernewek (Cornish) with so phonetic modifications.

That's interesting! Especially the phonology. Why voiced stops b and d but unvoiced k?
I'm too much of a technological oaf to put mine on the internet.

My friends in high school created a language they called (I think) Ongish. You pretty much spell out words, but you pronounce the consonants like so:
(consonant) + "ong" = letter pronunciation
Example:
F + "ong" = fong
The vowels are merely stated as the letter they are.
So, we take a word like "Bennett" (the last name of one of the creators) and it becomes:
Bong E Nong Nong E Tong Tong.
We take the word "Democrat" and it becomes:
Dong E Mong O Cong Rong A Tong
It's a taxing process, but it's kinda fun to figure out what they're saying as they say it.

Don't get me started. I'm the only person alive who decided to read Tolkien after they got the hang of the Quenya case system... {-)
Vellia> You might like Mark Rosenfelder's Language Construction Kit (http://www.zompist.com/kit.html).
This much more detailed conlang was created by another NSer (I forget who):

(It was mentioned when we had a thread on conlangs a couple of months back - I bookmarked the page at the time but haven't actually read it yet.)

More of a code than a language, but those are sometimes more interesting: this one is. It would be very taxing since you have a syllable for each letter. I would get tired of using it more than a few times a day. Now if I were an Ent...

I've always wnted to learn Quenya - no time.
And I have seen the Language Construction Kit. I refer to it a lot. But times an issue. Senior year is horrible - I've only had D's in AP Stat so far and we're already in the 4th (and final!) marking period.
I've started on a language for Letila, though I got bored and quit. However, I am working on another conlang based on socialism that I keep restarting in an attempt to get it to work just right.

Don't bother. Newspeak is doubleplusgood as it is. ;)
