Meet Curt Weldon (http://www.thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Campaign/040506_sestak.html)
Weldon's running for re-election this year against a retired admiral named Joe Sestak, and in the course of the campaign--a campaign that really hasn't gotten started yet, Weldon went afer Sestak for only renting a home in Pennsylvania and spending more of his time in Washington DC. But why has Sestak spent so much time in DC recently? Because his 5 year old daughter has cancer.

So what does Weldon do? He criticizes Sestak for not putting his daughter in a Pennsylvania hospital.
Weldon attacked Sestak’s decision to continue owning a home in Virginia while only renting in Pennsylvania and questioned why Sestak did not move back to Pennsylvania when he was working at the Pentagon. Weldon commutes from Pennsylvania each day.

Weldon also suggested Sestak should have sent his daughter to a hospital in Philadelphia or Delaware, rather than the Washington hospital. Sestak said that as soon as doctors give his daughter the all-clear, he’ll buy in Pennsylvania.

Sestak (unlike some other politicians who have been swift-boated in the past) didn't sit back and take it (http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/politics/14271801.htm).
WASHINGTON - The Democratic challenger to Rep. Curt Weldon said Wednesday that any criticism of his family's decisions on medical treatment for his 4-year-old daughter, stricken with a malignant brain tumor, was unacceptable.

"Any remarks regarding my daughter Alexandria's treatment will not be tolerated," Joe Sestak said. His daughter is being treated at Children's Hospital in Washington....

In the statement, Sestak said he and his wife chose to have their daughter treated at Children's Hospital because of its expertise on pediatric brain tumors.

"I believe these medical choices should be left in the hands of parents and family members throughout the country and not in the hands of bureaucrats, special interests and especially not in the hands of politicians like Curt Weldon," Sestak said.

Weldon's reply? No comment.

I think if you tried to find a pulse on politicians, you'd find that 90% were heartless.
To attack someone while his kid has cancer... that's just wrong. I hope Sestak mops the floor with that jerk.

There's no shame in attacking someone whos kid has cancer. Life goes on, and all that. What's unacceptable is using a kid (sick or not) to attack the father. It's low.

eh as was said earlier, 90% don't have hearts. Whether they are Republican or Democrat, politicans are all the same, useless.

Are they? I propose that we collectively out any politician, regardless of party, who is acting in a similarly scumbaggy fashion.

Ditto. Perhaps someone this quick to use brain cancer as a way to attack people should develop one. -_-

Damn. This guy actually had to sit there and think, "How can I best use my opponent's daughter's cancer to my best advantage."

Reminds me of, "She's as alive as you or I."

Reminds me of Newt preeching family values after he divorced his wife who was dying of cancer so he could marry a hot chick half her age.

Just, damn. I always though politicians were just as bad as the rest of us. They're much worse.

Good idea. It doesn't matter what party they are from, both parties have their scumbags and both group of scumbags are one in the same.

If you tried it just after an election, you could probably catch one or two new representatives whose souls hadn't been removed yet. Maybe.

I'm not surprised. His attacks are scumbaggy but I still have to laugh at the way he shot himself in the foot like that. Although we've seen people vote for bigger scumbags as president of the US, like George "Please don't kill me" Bush who mocked that lady on death row.

Yeah, when you start hiding rocks in the mud you are slinging, you broke the rules of dirty fighting and should be kicked out of the game. And beat up by gangs of roving hippies.

More on Weldon (http://mydd.com/story/2006/4/6/143946/4292). Yeah, it's a blog, but the pic tells the story even better, so I'm ripping it off.

http://www.mydd.com/images/admin/Weldonisinsane.JPG

That's Weldon speaking at the "coronation" of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, and the picture is of him pinning a medal on Colonel Moammar Qadhafi. And he's apparently won re-election easily in the past after doing that kind of crazy stuff.

Like how the Bush campaign attacked McCain for having "and illegitimate black child" when he had in fact adopted an orphan from Bangladesh.
