The technological edge of nation's secret services are one of the reasons why a lot of spooks are doing it old school, with dead letter boxes and brush contacts, to stay under the radar.

The fact that you failed to sign the bottom of this post obviously indicates that the sentiment expressed in it is disengious. Therefore, you must be trying to disseminate incorrect information on spies through NS, which is something you would only do if you were . . .
A SPY!!!

Echelon has been known about for more than a few years now....
It's the new research showing that the same radio-masts used by mobile-phones, can transmit frequencies than can alter your moods and such you should be worrying about ;)
The press of a button... and everyone within a certain radius of a mast could become violent, or depressed, or completly passive...
Surely thats a more worrying power, than a computer recording all of your telephone calls and emails?
EDIT:
Also, another thing.... in orbit there are spy-sattelites that can read newspapers from orbit.
So Digital and physical media isnt secure anymore.... next our thoughts? (if not already!)
Surely thats a more worrying power, than a computer recording all of your telephone calls and emails?
Said radiomasts would also affect the government agents themselves... would be pretty interesting.
Also, computer tracking of my telephone calls and emails IS worrying especially because it is already available.

Sure, one can be provided for any paranoid NS'er who desires one.

Would that be GSM celphone towers or CDMA? If GSM, does it matter if they're on US frequencies or international ones? Also, I'd appreciate a link to the mind control research. Thanks in advance.

Yeh, cus they only want to use it to catch criminals. Not to spy on innocent people. Sure.
And what about the part that says someone was questioned after using one of the "keywords" in a perfectly innocent conversation. I don't fancy being arrested every time I say certain words.

yes! another person who actually knows about that mind-control stuff!
Can we not counter it somehow? Maybe use music or something, as music can drastically affect moods?
And both are just as worrying to me... what if they are used in conjunction with each other? I type a message to someone about some mast being built and about mind control, it gets intercepted, and suddenly the person becomes depressed and ignores me when I need him/her to help get rid of it?

Not if the government did one of these:
1. Made sure there was no mast near them
2. Switched off any masts near them
3. Have some sort of protective device for themselves
F*ck it's like one of those sci-fi movies... but real... look it up if you think I'm paranoid
