"Katie Couric will become the first woman to anchor a network weekday evening newscast alone."

All I could think about when I read this article was the time-proven classic movie, Anchorman.

[after fight in the alley]
Ron Burgundy: Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast!
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch!
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn't it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart!
Ron Burgundy: I saw that! Brick killed a guy! Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident!
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safe house or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.

Priceless.

But I don't think she faced any overt opposition because she is a woman.

Couric turned down an offer of about $20 million a year to stay at NBC in order to take CBS' five-year deal at near her current salary of about $15 million, according to people close to negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because networks do not speak publicly about salaries

O.O She's a millionaire and now a anchorwoman.....wow.

Lose 5 mil a year the anchorwoman title....I think I'd be happier with the extra 5 mil.
