A Good man not better than a politician?

I live in a town where a Prof. of Engineering became the town Supervisor after getting fed up with the red tape and tax scandals. Since coming into power, he has made (US) national news by doing things like taking away Town cars from sedentary employees and signing all the Town paychecks himself.

This man (Satish Mohan is his name) is not a politician. There is now a movement to have him impeached because of his disregard of "the political process", the "friends and family" programs that were going on, and generally just doing things the way "the good old boys" did them.

I think he should be applauded. Hell, if he wasn't nearly 70, I'd ask him to run for president.

So my question is this, is a man who wants to do good for the community better than a career politician who "knows the ropes"? Is this the swift kick in the ass government needs?

Apparently this is such a localized issue that no one can respond. That or they areall shocked at the idea of a good person in government....

I think there is a movement to have everyone impeached its to do with not being able to please everyone

Though I am an Englishman with no desire to run for mayor

What does this bit mean? Was he just deciding things, without talking to others, or what.

Sounds cool though.

We need more Mr Smiths to go to Washington, if you know what I mean...

Do you have a link to an article about this guy? The situation sounds very interesting. I'd like to hear how his opponents are justifying their calls for impeachment.

Well, last time we had a good man in high office we voted him out in favor of a treasonous, fear-mongering, regressive, imperialist, imbecilic b-movie actor.

After that the only shocking thing about a good man in office is that he actually got something done.

There never were a lot of them, and the whole purpose of the Democratic Republic was to put those few available in charge of government. Such a shame that the general public are too stupid to be relied on to appoint them to power.

further proof that only catholics, conservatives, and stupid people are reproducing. (note: the 3 categories are in NO WAY mutually exclusive.)

I’ve known a few Mr Smiths and most were smart enough not to get roped into politics. One such Mr Smith I knew, a man of great integrity and wisdom, who was respected in his community was approached by an acquaintance about running for politics. He met the guy for lunch and the acquaintance brought with him a greasy political hack, who wanted to get things done through others. This particular Mr Smith related to me when he got a whiff that these people weren’t going to straight with him and were just planning to use him, he wanted nothing to do with politics.

The problem is that by the time a political party gets through with even Mr Smith they start to get dirty.
