This is a quick thread to see what the eye color genetics are in the NS community. One thing if you do not know exactly what kind of eyes genes you have just vote do not know.

I'm a Green-blue, but I ended up with blue.

I am not entirely sure on weather blue is dominate over green, or weather which eye color you have is like a flip of a coin.

My parents' eyes are brown and hazel (green, I guess), but mine are a grey/green that can shift blue when they feel like it.

Blue-blue, but they're a light shade. Dayglow Blue, you could say, because they look especially radiant in sunlight.

3/4 Grandparents have blue, my dad has blue, my mom has green, my little brother has blue, and I get hazel.

The reason why I did not include one for grey eyes is because I had to eliminate one category or I would run out of room. As well I did not include grey because grey is considered a variant of light blue eyes.

Ooooh, this is eye color GENES. I thought it was just an eye color thread!

Anyway, my mom has deep green eyes, and my dad has light blue eyes. That explains the dayglow effect my eyes have, really.

Both my parents and grandparents have brown eyes(as do my sibilings) but I must have gotten something else. I'm blue-green-silver.

The reason why I did not include one for grey eyes is because I had to eliminate one category or I would run out of room. As well I did not include grey because grey is considered a variant of light blue eyes.

I have green eyes...though they switch between green and hazel.

My dad has hazel eyes, my mom has brown.

My dads parents have hazel eyes.

My moms parents have blue eyes

Although my moms mom has crazy blue-green eyes.

I have always wished that I could have Grey eyes...to me they are by far the coolest and most rare.

I guess brown-brown, but I'm color blind, so maybe it's muddy brown.

I have a green-brown thing going on, both parents are brown but there's green in the grandfolks. The result looks sort of like root beer on me.

Erm... I've never studied this in depth... but I gather they fall somewhere between brown and blue (brown being "most dominant")... Eye colour is controlled by many genes, so it's complicated.

Both my parents had brown eyes, I have brown eyes, but one sibling has blue eyes, and another has grey.

*edit: and another two siblings also have brown.

You would be given the territories nobody wants. You shall receive some lovely Pacific Islands. An example would be Pitcairn Island. Or we could give you the Middle East.

Since the only two eye colors that run in my family are blue and brown and the only people in my family alive that has blue eyes are my nuclear family and myself, I have to guess that my genes are blue-blue.

For example into the 17th century Sweden became one the worlds great powers and fought all the way to the Ukraine. As well in modern many heroes of Scandinavian descent have arisen, during World War II Scandinavians were thought, by many, to be great soldiers.

My father's eyes are gray, and my mother's were brown. This for some reason gave me green eyes.

Green-Blue. Both my parents have blue eyes, are fairly short and are morning people. All my siblings and myself have green eyes, are tall, and are night people.

I swear if there was just me I’d think I was adopted. From what I’ve seen dominant traits like this can skip a generation, as there were a lot of family over six feet tall in my grandparent’s generation.

Father's = blue
Mother's = brown
Me = brown
2 siblings = brown
1 sibling = green

What does that all mean?
Then I would surmise that your father had 2 blue eye alleles, and your mother had one green allele and one brown.

Mom: Blue
Dad: Blue
Sister: Blue
Me: Brown

I had a hard time figuring that one out for a while.

I have very dark blue/grey eyes, with little specs of green in them that only really show up when I shine a light through them.

However, because they're dark and I have dark dark hair, people just assume they're brown - one of my friends who had known me for 5 years was walking with me one day, suddenly stopped and exclaimed

"Oh my god! You have BLUE EYES!!!"

due to the apparently mysterious nature of my eyes, I have been told before that I have PURPLE eyes. If I can pass as a purple-eyed freak, I think I can claim Andromeda, plus a few of Jupiter's moons at least, like Europa and Io...

my mom has green eyes, my dad has brown, there are also a few sets of blue eyes in my family.

i have hazel eyes, which are more green eyes with an auburn color around the iris.

Since I was born from no being—I always simply was—I have none of these "genes" that you speak of.

My eyes vary in hue from deep blood-crimson to blinding white, each one betraying a portion of the darkness beyond them. I of course decided upon this as the best way to frighten foolish underlings into thinking I had X-ray vision or some kind of imaginary superpower, simply to inspire fear in the worthless masses. Mwahahahaha!!!!

My eyes are a nice cold grey colour... actually, theyseem to be made up of four rings of grey, blue, yellow and brown..

Blue-Blue. My fiancee is blue-blue, too. And we both have brown hair. :) So, unless we have recessive genes for blonde that happen to match up, our kids should look just like us. ;)
And if any kids come out with brown eyes, I'm gonna have words for her. :p

my eyes are actually a combo of green and blue (not only meaning the genes, I mean the actual colour of my eyes)... what colour you see most in my eyes all depends on what colours i'm wearing, the light, and all that sorta stuff..
Seeing as i wear a lot of blue stuff, my eyes on average are more greeny

My parents acutally have blue/ blue-green, i seem to have the same sort of eyes as my mother

Hazel... a cross between green and brown, though depending on what I wear and/or the lighting in teh room, my eyes can either appear more green or brown, though if I wear blue, my eyes look more blue...

it's not stupid. besides, i think that eye color is one of those genetic traits that isn't as simple as one single gene pair expressing dominant or recessive traits. i seem to remember reading something other genes that control enzymes that modify the expressed color. it's been a long time since i last took genetics, so this might be all wrong, too.

my father and I have very very dark brown eyes(i'd call em black)

My eyes are a sort of Browney-Hazely colour. That one comes from my mom. My dad's eyes are a different brown, and I don't know if he passed that one on to me, or if one of his genes was blue/green.

My eyes are blue which I got from my dad while my mom has green eyes so i guess i have blue-green genes.

You got Blue- Blue. If you had Blue-Green you would have green eyes. Your mom has blue-green genes.
