Curtain Call

Last night as I was trying to get to sleep, I noticed that my window appeared to be glowing, just from the outside lights seeping through my curtain. I thought that I would ask how thick you chaps and gals like yours.
I have somewhat thick curtains right now, but they come with my building and cannot be removed. Providing I have not been up late, I like to avoid curtains all together so the sun wakes me up in the morning. After a late night, though, I tend to favour the somewhat-thick variety.
P.S.: My apologies to those in the Southern Hemisphere who are in Autumn, I specified Springtime because I know some people (Well, me, at least) have preferances that change over the course of a year.

I need one that's somewhat thick for the Kansas winters and the winds that sneak through during storms, but I usually need them thin enough material that they won't bunch up a lot when I pull them back. I don't really care one way or another in terms of how much light it blocks -- I can sleep pretty well in any lit situation, really -- for me, it's more about both how it compliments the room AND functionality in terms of cold and letting light in during the day.

i love being woken up by the sun (although most days i get up before the sun)
and i love sleeping with moonlight shining on me.

Right now, fully shut. Dark. Waking up to bright sun is hell. But.. in the winter it's nice to wake up and see all that snow, may I point you in the direction of this: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Goomg/area/Picture102.jpg

My curtains block all light. With good reason too. I can see into about thirty-seven different rooms from my bedroom. That means that thirty-seven rooms can see into my bedroom.
I don't have curtains in my apartment, I have vertical blinds. The last time I had curtains, I quite liked the setup. It was basically two sets, one in front of the other. A thin white gauzy layer directly in front of the window, and a thicker, more decorative layer directly in front of that. So I could block out lots of light if I wanted to, or just a little bit.
Thick curtains that block prying eyes and light from penetrating. Venetian blinds don't do it for me.

I'd paint my windows black if I had my way...

I hate getting woken up early in the morning on the weekends, so I'd have to say thick curtains for me.

I have blinds, which block out 90% of the light, I suppose. And that works for me. I like it to be generally dark, but some light is nice to tell me what time of day it is.

In the daytime, I like to leave my windows open. Curtains are for night and the early morning, when I don't want the evil sun to wake me before I get enough sleep.

"All that snow"? Man, that is not much at all... It looks only a few centimeters deep...

Yeah Yeah Yeah.. It was like 6am and it only started.. It snowed today, only like 2 inches.. It was nice. But being that it's spring and snow shouldn't be there.. it melted by lunch :(

The temperature in my town went from subzero to Summer temperatures for a few days (Reaching 22°) and back down to subzero (With snow) again in the course of two weeks... It started below freezing today but is now back up to 3°. Ah, the crazy Spring...

Ahh, it annoys me! Can't get use to it.

I have a canopy bed, on which we put heavy green velvet curtains. If I want, I draw the curtains, and sleep in the moonlight (which I love) or wake up to the sun... but I have a 2 year old, and my husband sometimes works nights and we both value our day-time sleep at times.
