Illinois man kills 8 year old daughter, saves world

An Illinois man killed his 8 year old daughter because he thought she was the antichrist based on the number 666 coming up in a card game they were playing. Maybe annual mental health screenings should be mandatory for all who have kids.

Sure, maybe the kid wasn't the Antichrist, but why risk it.

Sarcasm aside, this is just sick. They were playing cards and that's enough to prove she's the antichrist?

Maybe I'm getting soft, but I cant stand anymore of these fucking disgusting stories about kids being abused and murdered.

One minute, they're playing cards and the next, dad's killing his child. Maybe I'm picturing it in my household and how absolutely horrendous it would be.

maybe, this child is better off dead than living in the conditions she was in? I dont know if they were bad or 'normal" and dad just cracked.

Years ago, I wouldnt give this a second thought. I was pretty callous.

I know what you mean. I'm super-sensitive to anything involving children being harmed, ever since I had my first baby. My husband has noted the same thing in himself. There are a number of movies we've just stopped watching because of it, and every single time I see a real news story about a child being hurt, I can't really handle it. The stories stay with me for much longer than I want, and kind of pile up. So I don't become full of dread, I just tend to avoid this shit anymore, before I start believing that my kids won't be safe unless I keep them locked up inside their whole lives.

Interesting that you don't want to break copyright laws and yet you post a link to a site that is designed to help people hack into protected intelectual property.

I find into peculiar.

As for the little girl, it's a damn shame and I hope the father will be punished severly.

What worries me is that the father said his son was safe, because he was 'The Chosen One'.
How can he be sure of that? Maybe the girl was the chosen one, and the son is the antichrist and he planted the idea in Dad's head that she was Satan, so as to get rid of the competition, so to speak.
Best thing to do is kill the son as well, just to be on the safe side.

It's not hacking into protected intellectual property. The Chicago Tribune isn't asking for cash. It's free to sign up. Some of us prefer not to have to sign up, as it means our email addresses are then sold on and we're bombarded with spam shit from then on.

If bugmenot.com is made for ONLY the Chicago tribune, then I retract my statement. If it's possible to sidestep having to pay for using the website of a newspaper, then I still find it quaint. As the website is blocked at work, I can't verify for myself.

Besides, I have nothing against what DC Deleted did, I just found it odd.

Well I dont find that peculiar really ... posting the story potentialy gets you punished

Posting the two links (as far as I know) does not

If his motivation is to avoid punishment (as mine usualy is on some level) then this was a consistant way to do it

Did anyone else find this line interesting?

Investigators are awaiting DNA tests of evidence collected from the girl's autopsy to determine whether to bring more charges against Lofquist, law enforcement sources said.

Would they even mention that if there weren't some sort of evidence at all indicating that such might be the case

Well he did say he was having moral problems with violating copyright laws. I read into it that he was having moral objection to stealing ideas from their "owner" and not the breaking the law part. As such, it was odd to then link a site that let you do that.

But it was all cleared up for me earlier so it's a moot point.

Oh, I definitely agree with you there. But religion has sanctioned such events since the beginning of civilization, and while it hardly ever happens in Western countries anymore, it still does elsewhere. So, yah.

I agree ... I am about as anti organized religion as possible

But yes I am distrustfull of anything that wields that ammount of controll over people but requires no validation other then "belief"... too much potential for abuse

But in this peticular case they really did not "sanction" anything.

That is certainly true. Eh, part of it is just my natural tendency to dislike religions. Religions often teach people to hate. Ever met a born-again Christian? I know a few. It's disgusting, since most often those who convert them take naive teenagers and teach them to hate gays, pagans, to take the Bible as pure fact, and all sorts of idiotic crap. Then when they are adults they go and convert more naive teenagers and the cycle goes on. It irks me to no end.

"Illinois man kills 8 year old daughter, saves world"

Little story from my teen years: My step-brother and I were on the back porch playing Risk, which involves rolling dice to determine outcomes of battles. He was opposing one of my armies with three of his, so the outcome was seriously in doubt for me. I rolled against him the first time, and rolled a six, which meant he had to remove one of his armies. He yelled, "SIX!" I rolled again and got another six. He yelled, "SIX!" I rolled the last time and got another six. "SIX!"

At that point, my step-mother stuck her head out the window and yelled, "Don't you boys use that number! That's the number of the beast!"

It's a true wonder that I'm even marginally functional, much less the Uber-Studly-Doright I am. :D

Come to think of it, playing cards is satanic. So the father should kill himself as well, as he played it with the daughter.
Preferably as soon as possible and in as painful a way as possible.
