I grew up with the original transformers and these Alternators (Binaltech) are actually harder to Transform than those toys, which makes me believe that these are not for the kids, but for the adult collectors.

I prefer the Japanese releases with the die-cast content, but the prices get a little steep.
And the whole yo-yo game Hasbro played with the Nemesis Prime version really ticked off a lot of the fandom....

No matter what happens...the 2007 Transformers movie will kick major ass.

You're kidding, right? Toy cars are almost as old as cars themselves. You've certainly heard of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Slot Cars, Revel et al plastic and die cast model cars, car video games, Barbies Dream Corvette and Beetle, car riding toys, race car beds...

Not all of those have been specific cars all of the time but all of them have been at some point.

The original transfomers had a recognizable Jeep, a bug, a Porsche 935 (Jazz, my fav), more that aren't coming to mind immediately.

I kind of think of this as transformers in it's purest (except makine Optimus a Viper, he should always be a truck). These are actually "robot's in disguise" instead of "Hey look, a robot shaped like something kinda roboty. I bet it transforms into something else roboty." In that respect I like it a lot more than other itterations. (I mean really, why is it neccisary for a robot ape to change into a slightly more erect robot?)

this is why I didn't like, blurr or arcee. Springer was okay as the robot and the helicopter but his car could have been better. But sure upgrade Jazz to a new porsche, upgrade bumblebee to a new bug but optimus as a viper :headbang:

Just to be clear, Alt Optimus is a pickup truck, not a Viper sports car.

But then again Movie Bumblebee is going to be a Camaro.... I guess Volkswagon wasn't interested in paying Dreamworks to keep BB a Beetle... GM was. Some things just aren't sacred.

well, you gotta remember, the Transformers are from a different planet. so their vehicles will look different.

remember the episode where they saw the "birth" of Optimus Prime, he was some hover truck-like thing and Starscream was the original model of the G'ould starship. (a pyramid shaped fighter)

Actually few kids buy the Alternators or Binaltech... It's mostly old-time Transformers fans and collectors.

Actually they wanted to do a new VW Beetle as Bumblebee, but Volkswagon wouldn't license the design due to their refusal to be associated with "war toys".

And Optimus is a Dodge RAM SRT-10 "Viper", the Pickup with the V10 "Viper" engine.
