They are not bands. its just one person saying nonssnse about how he thinks guns and crime are good, and adds izzle to the end of the last word on all lines just to rhyme what normally whould not.

That's just ignorant. Some rap is shit, yes, but the proportion is no better or worse than in modern rock.

ahahahha burzum. that stuff is too funny. favorite band though? idk, i guess you could say my most influential band. the band that got me into metal in the first place was metallica. ride the lightning. and i still love them to this day. however st. anger wasnt all it was cracked up to be. but i still love the band. right now though, my current favorite band. its this horror punk band called calabrese. i dont even like punk that much. im a huge metal head, but i cant stop listening to them.

and what your saying about rap. well, its all a matter of opinion. but as for me? i like some underground hip hop. immortal technique is like the death metal of the rap genre. same thing with necro. but immortal technique is alot more political. very left wing. i think hes awesome. now it may not take much musical prowess to write a rap song. you need to be a good lyricist. if it is to be a good rap song. you should really check out immortal technique. some of his rhymes are just nutz.

woo! ah i have a special place for that band in my head cos i found them in the heyday of mp3.com when they were unsigned and had only put about 4 or 5 songs on there, including Valley Of The Damned. so when i sent them an email saying 'awesome stuff! more like that song please!' and got a reply back saying something like 'cool, thanks for the feedback', it was just really awesome :D

and then about 2 years later i saw their album in the shops (and got it of course)

same thing happened with Adema, oddly enough...

As for favourite bands there are way too many. I could go by whatever's in my minidisc player at the moment, as that doesn't usually change for several months at a time lol. By that medium it'd be Reel Big Fish (Cheer Up), but a while ago it would've been Green Day, then before that Queen, then before that Genesis, and so it goes on.

Ooh! Or maybe Spandau Ballet at the moment. Got the best of CD in my player lol.

This is damn near the hardest question I've ever had to answer! Especially if I'm only allowed to pick one ALL TIME favorite!!! But, if I must, I'd have to say...*Does drum roll on computer desk*...

Metallica!!!

When you consider the fact that every album they recorded, from Kill Em' All to ...And Justice was an absolute masterpiece, that's one hell of a span!!! The Black album was probably the beginning of their downward spiral but still earns a grade of 80%, whereas everything before Black was 100%! They steadily slid down the "sellout" slope but didn't hit rock bottom until Saint Anger!!! All in all, that's pretty impressive!!!

Honorable Mentions:

The Eagles
Pink Floyd
Queen

Hmm... I don't really have a favorite band. I tend to oscillate in between a number of really good bands and then fixate on one when a really good album comes out. Some of my favorites include:

- Bad Religion
- Anti-Flag
- Protest the Hero
- Fugazi
- Minor Threat

There are others, but those five tend to see the most play.

I have a last.fm account (thanks to seeing PM post about it once or twice), which is: http://www.last.fm/user/NS_KSP/

That said, a lot of my music has no "name" on tracks, so only music that I haven't downloaded shows. That and I haven't got the money to convince friends to DL for me or to buy new CDs.

My Top 10 list changes on a daily basis, completely dependent on how my day went and what my mood/mindset is. Current band/album:

Agalloch - The Mantle
Anathema - A Natural Disaster
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Caribou - The Milk of Human Kindness
Circulatory System - Circulatory System
Dead Soul Tribe - A Murder of Crows
Isis - Oceanic
Katatonia - Viva Emptiness
November's Doom - Of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia

Hmm, sort of depressing. Listening to Porcupine Tree now, Heart Attack in a Lay-by.

I noticed they were playing at my Uni's student bar, didn't get a chance to see them though.

Worth checking out for someone that likes the following bands?

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, DragonForce, Dungeon, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Queensryche, Savatage... to name a few.

I saw them live in January and they rocked (in fact it was one of my fav gigs ever as both support bands rocked too (sabathon and Ed-Guy), the only thign they could have doen better was to turn the drums down a notch and turn the 2 lead giutars up 2 notchs, a lot of the whole point of Dragonforce is the 2 awesome giutarists and it is kind of spoiled when you can't actually hear them aboce the only slightly less awesome thunder of the drums.

Sweet, hopefully they have everything sorted out when they come to Brissie.

Yep, if you like them I reckon you'll like these guys, they perhaps arent as angry as the other, and you may not like that, but its certainly worth a shot.

Muse, definitely.

I didn't like Absolution a lot though, and that was the first album of theirs that people seemed to actually know of in my country. I picked up Origin of Symmetry at KaDeWe in Berlin a couple of years ago and Newborn from that album is probably my favourite song. It's even better in person :D.

What's angry about any of those bands? Except for maybe Ozzy in Sabbath...

I got a wide variation of taste. Let me demonstrate.
I love slipknot and have tried many a time to go and see them to no avail.
I have seen Greenday live and they put on an amazing show.
I just got tickets to see Maiden in december, £130!! (but im very happy really).
My overall choice is IRON MAIDEN!!

£130? Fuck. It's costing me that much to go to Download.

At the moment Rilo Kiley occupies my song list. Pink Floyd and Switchfoot are good too.

the best band IMHO is a tie between

-65daysofstatic

-the libertines

-Death from above 1979

but if I have to choose its 65daysofstatic because of the drums in Await rescue

I prefer the drums in This Cat is a Landmine, though each to their own, I guess. And Radio Protector pwns all.

Ok, perhaps angry was the wrong choice of word... in fact, I'm not sure there is a word to describe the difference. Perhaps its just the awesomeness of the vocals, it goes almost operatic sometimes.

Symphony X, no question.

As for runners up: Kamelot, Queensryche, and Dream Theater are all very good bands. Might I also mention Ayreon, which isn't a band (more like a one-time rock opera project), but has some top-notch music under its name.

Ok, for two tickets that's better. I thought you meant you'd spent £130 just for one ticket. Still...that's half as much as I'm paying to go to Download, and over twice as much as I'd consider reasonable to spend on any one band (except Radiohead or a reformed Pink Floyd).

Ah, so it's melodic. In that case you should listen to DragonForce, melodic vocals with super fast power metal guitars.
