What's your strongest side?

Cabra West

Me, I seem to be a good listener and - possibly - good at giving advise.
It seems to be a blessing for others, but something of a curse for me.

I have three that are pretty strong:

1. my sense of humor, which has kept me from going totally insane several times.

2. my ability to learn quickly, which has kept me from being killed ( quite literally ) a number of times.

3. my love of people in general, which has allowed me to make friends all over the world, some of whom are on here! [ waves ] :)

Depends on the situation. On the one hand, analytical, perhaps overly so. On the other, empathic.

I would say two, that I know of: intelligence and adaptability, both of which you seem to have, although I suspect you have neglected the second one a bit. :p

Not sure if it's my strongest side, but "a good listener" is high up on my list as well. Don't know why, but I guess I have sort of an approachable character, because people seem to find it easy to confide in me (even people I hardly know), so it's a good quality to have.

Not so good at giving advise, though. Not at all! ;)

It would be helpful it you could outline which "sides" you mean.

On a volume basis, my herbivorous side trumps my carnivorous side; if we are talking about writing my left side beats my right; and as far as good looks goes my backside is pretty tight. The inside of my residence is much more appealing than it appears on the outside.

What I mean to say is that a poll would have been helpful (Let's face it, we all love polls, right?).

Going by personality, which I infer from your original post is what you meant, I am an INFJ (http://typelogic.com/infj.html) (An introverted, intuitive, feely-judgey type). That makes me good at sympathising with people and calming them down, and builds into my patience, which I think is one of my key personality strengths. As a graduate student, I like to think that I have a bit of intelligence, knowledge, and even wisdom on which to draw as well.

If you want to do the personality test and find out which four letters you are, it is at this site (http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm), which includes a little blurb on your results.

I = Introverted, it contrasts with E = Extroverted
N = Intuitive, it contrasts with S = Sensing
F = Feeling, it contrasts with T = Thinking
J = Judging, it contrasts with P = Perceiving

I have been told that I am a great friend, because I am a good listener and I have a way of picking up on body language and such to figure out what's really going on with my friends.

I think my strengths would have to be that I am a fast learner and I have great intuition.

(although sub-standard spelling at times)

My husband says I am good at "reading people" which probably comes from all the other things I already listed.

Let's see - strongest side?

Well, I'm fairly intelligent. I see a lot of people out there who are of such lesser intelligence than I am that I feel confident in that statement.

Umm... that's about it. I'm not particularly creative, not a good listener, not always reasonable... basically I'm middle ground and below on everything else.

Hm. Maybe that I'm not a bitch. I may not *like* every single person I've ever met, but I'm good-humoured, real easy to get along with, not a drama queen, or moody, or mean.

In real life I'm also intelligent, quick-witted and funny. Honest, I am. That doesn't always exactly translate very well on the forums, though. :p

I am an INFJ

This is how the quiz results (http://typelogic.com/infj.html) describe me:

Beneath the quiet exterior, INFJs hold deep convictions about the weightier matters of life. Those who are activists -- INFJs gravitate toward such a role -- are there for the cause, not for personal glory or political power.

INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ.

"There's something rotten in Denmark." Accurately suspicious about others' motives, INFJs are not easily led. These are the people that you can rarely fool any of the time. Though affable and sympathetic to most, INFJs are selective about their friends. Such a friendship is a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words.

INFJs have a knack for fluency in language and facility in communication. In addition, nonverbal sensitivity enables the INFJ to know and be known by others intimately.

Writing, counseling, public service and even politics are areas where INFJs frequently find their niche.

I'd say it is pretty accurate.

P.S.: If you do not want to do the first test (http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp), this one (http://bloginality.love-productions.com/index2.php) is much shorter.

If you want to do the personality test and find out which four letters you are, it is at this site (http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm), which includes a little blurb on your results.

My result:

Your Type is INTP

# moderately expressed introvert
# moderately expressed intuitive personality
# very expressed thinking personality
# moderately expressed perceiving personality

Which is interesting considering this description:

Precise about their descriptions, INTPs will often correct others (or be sorely tempted to) if the shade of meaning is a bit off. While annoying to the less concise, this fine discrimination ability gives INTPs so inclined a natural advantage as, for example, grammarians and linguists.

I have been described on this forum, as well as others, as being a pedant or a nitpick (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/nitpick.htm). :D

...INTPs thrive on systems. Understanding, exploring, mastering, and manipulating systems can overtake the INTP's conscious thought. This fascination for logical wholes and their inner workings is often expressed in a detachment from the environment, a concentration where time is forgotten and extraneous stimuli are held at bay. Accomplishing a task or goal with this knowledge is secondary.

I've often worked on school projects, hobbies, and even posts on this forum and found that hours have passed by in what felt like 15 minutes. I also have a nasty habit of not sleeping when a paper is due in a class because I'm too busy rewriting and tweeking. I also have directories full of computer programs and projects I have never finished, as well as other hobbies and projects that remain uncompleted.
