With this verdict, we move on to phase 2 which is wether or not to sentence him to death.
I'd prefer it to be lifetime imprisonment. Apart from my inherent opposition to the death penalty, it would send a signal that the US isn't as murderous as some people would have us believe.

Whats he charged with exactly? As far as I know its conspiracy, and the death penalty does seem rather harsh for that.

the jury must unanimously agree that prosecutors proved Moussaoui intentionally lied to federal agents who interrogated him in August 2001, that he lied with lethal intent, and that his lies directly resulted in at least one death in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
"He concealed the valuable information that he had about the impending attacks," prosecutor David Raskin said last week, summarizing the government's case.
"If the defendant hadn't lied," he said, the government could have used Moussaoui's leads "to prevent the attacks or at least some part of the attacks."
Moussaoui, 37, pleaded guilty last year to six terrorism conspiracy charges stemming from the plot to hijack planes and crash them into prominent buildings.
It wasn't until he testified last week that Moussaoui claimed advanced knowledge of the September 11 plot or a role in it, a reversal of his previous statements.
Moussaoui told jurors that he was aware the twin towers of the World Trade Center were on a suicide hijacking target list, and that he was training to crash a jetliner into the White House.

This guy is an idiot. He's pretty much undermined his martyr status by not being upfront about his involvement in the first place. This isn't martyrdom, its suicide.

Suicide by jury. It's pretty clear the guy is unstable.

No death penalty necessary.
Just set him free in Saudi Arabia. Since he hasn't spent the whole trial screaming "JIHAD ISRAEL!!" and didn't spit in the face of the Feds by saying, "You damn right we're attacking, here's when and where and only Allah can stop us! JIHAD ISRAEL!!!", I'm sure his "brothers in Islam" will give him a very warm reception.

What did you think they were going to do? Lock him up? The American people would have the judges heads on a platter, and Moussaoui would be dead within a week of arriving in prision. He may actually last longer on death row.

Nahhhh...they'd use him for target practice, then kill him.

We may yet manage to make a martyr out of this laughingstock.
Apparently moussaoui is a flake, a wacko who runs his mouth and not much else.
Some of the terrorists whose testimony was used at his trial talked about how they used their own money to get him out of their training camps because he was insane.

Should christian prisoners be cruelly and unusually punished by having the toiler paper replaced with bible verses?

This is just weird.
Despite me not supporting terrorism or terrorists, I still felt a little bit relieved every time the German courts didn't sentence them harshly, or let one go, or something like that.
It shows that the system is still working, that no one had to start making up new anti-terror laws to get people out of sheer mob-revenge fantasies.
Knowing that the sentence either way will do absolutely nothing about terrorism in the States or anywhere else, I cannot agree with people dishing out the death penalty this freely.

There is a lot of frustration that the people who actually did 9/11 can't be punished, and that they got exactly what they wanted.
