The Flagellants
What do you think about the Flagellants, a group of Christians who went around the lands during the Bubonic Plague era putting on shows of self-mutilation so they might repent for their sins? Frankly, I think they were doing what any overzealous Christian during the time would do. Make up an excuse for a catastrophe, then do what ever it takes to "Please God". And if I'm right, I think they might have also participated in the wholesale slaughter of Jews, like quite a few Christians in the Bubonic Plague era were doing. Please post your opinions, my good men!

Just another weird, irrational religious ritual. Some flagellants still exist. Some of them hurt themselves to induce religious trances and hallucinations.

I think at one point the flagellants were actually outlawed by the Catholic Church. The Church felt they were a threat because the Church essentially couldn't get control over the plague, thus making it look weak. Then the flagellants were going outside of the Church authority, and bypassing the Church middleman, trying to go directly to God in a way to get it cleared up.
But anyway, flagellants are great. I think more Christians should whip themselves with sharp objects.
