"I don't really care how time is reckoned so long as there is some agreement about it, but I object to being told that I am saving daylight when my reason tells me that I am doing nothing of the kind. I even object to the implication that I am wasting something valuable if I stay in bed after the sun has risen. As an admirer of moonlight I resent the bossy insistence of those who want to reduce my time for enjoying it. At the back of the Daylight Saving scheme I detect the bony, blue-fingered hand of Puritanism, eager to push people into bed earlier, and get them up earlier, to make them healthy, wealthy and wise in spite of themselves."

~Robertson Davies: The Diary of Samuel Marchbanks, 1947, XIX, Sunday

What is your opinion of the whole Daylight Savings thing? I must say that last night, when I was about to go to bed at 3.30am I was a bit discouraged to remember that it was actually 4.30am. Otherwise, though, I think it is fine.

It screws up my biological clock really badly every year. It gets very annoying.

It seems pretty pointless.

The sun rises. Stays in the sky for a bit. Sets.

Every day.

Why do we need to make ourselves perceive it from an hour earlier or later depending on season?

I went to sleep at 9:00AM, but it was actually 10:00!!!

I like having all that sunlight in the evening. And I go to sleep at the same time as always. Take that, puritans!

I just don't see the point of setting everything forward for a bit, then putting it all back later on. Wouldn't it just be easier to leave everything as it is?
