There's a Belgian organization pushing for schoolkids to get beer instead of sodas and other sweet drinks.

Same here, but if it was true, it would be glorious.

Reported De Telegraaf
That's the most shitty Dutch newspaper there is and they love this kind of shite without a hint of truth.

Oh man, so would it have counted as "progressive" if we had kept up with the alcohol-vending-out-of-lockers program in high school? Because the only reason it got shut down is 'cause the kid whose locker we were using actually OPENED it one day, and was mystified as to why his "locker partner" (who he didn't technically have, we just busted the lock) had so much vodka in there. Technically we were lucky, 'cause he could've reported, but we didn't want to take the chance that he wouldn't if it remained in there.

IF this was true I would oppose it. Alchohol being given to adults is bad, but to kids?
No.

I had beer all the time when I was younger (my dad let me drink his beer), and nothing bad happened to me.

You are also one out of millions. Almost billions in fact.

I'd argue that giving kids low alcohol beer (we're talking 2-3%) would actually help them learn about drinking at an early age, thus avoiding binge drinking and drunk driving.

Actually, I'd make that lower. Kids are sensitive to addiction.

Not all of them, of course. It's just that kids are sensitive to addiction and it can wreck their liver.

One beer will not make you addicted, not even as a kid. 2-3% is about as low as it gets while it's still beer.
Not to mention, it's usually fruit beer. Light beer is 4-6%

You have to realize that a full grown, 200lbs man's body can handle far more than a 100lbs child's.

I agree, just in small amounts but enough to take the "taboo" away from drinking. If you want to see why, look at North America.
I think all of this was meant to make a point about soft drinks. The last phrase of the article quoted is moronic.
