If he is elected, Lynn (R) has pledged to place strict limits on spending and property tax increases.

Swann told the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Leadership Council that he wants to make government more responsible with taxpayers' money, citing spending areas such as education and government operations. In 25 minutes of speaking and answering questions, Swann also sought to characterize how he would lead the state if elected in November

I'm also afraid that this is going to be a bad election as I believe that both sides will try to outdue the other in negative ads.

That could be a bad thing, since it reduces the ability of the government to use fiscal policy to counteract recessions and inflation. Balanced budget amendments and nonflexible spending caps are two of the worst ideas I've ever heard from a politician.

I actually agree with you on that. I am nervous on this plan so I guess I'm going to have to wait and see if he gets elected and see precisely what the plan is.

He's just repeating talking points. There's video of him from tv programs floating around already, and it's clear that he's way out his league on most issues. Sort of like Schwarzenegger, but without the acting ability and with a longer election period to make it through. My bet is that Rendell is praying that Swann will get the nomination.

From what I'm seeing, Swann is almost gaurenteed to be the Nominee. This will be like the first time I'm really going to follow a state governor's race.

Living as close to Pennsylvania as I do, I'm going to follow it because what affects PA also affects Ohio.

Yea thats pretty much accurate. Of course, I'll be more affected than you'll be 'cause I live in the state :P

Right now though, I'm a tad upset with the current governor because he ignored what the state education people have requested and went lower than what was recommended. GRRRRR!
