I hope this isn't a April Fool's prank:
Simpsons film confirmed for 2007
Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed that popular animated TV series The Simpsons is to be made into a film.
The movie will be released in the United States in July 2007.

About bloody time. It has gone past it's use by date, but a movie would be the best way to send it off. Hope it's better than the Family guy one (which was good, but not great).

I heard about this on Tuesday.
I think they were thinking about it a while ago but then Maude went greedy.
But of course they are all greedy...

I think the Simpsons has run out of steam too much. I don't reckon they'd be able to sustain a movie.

THis had been planned for a while, so it's not a mean joke.
Cannot think of a name

As an ardent and diehard fan of The Simpsons who still enjoys it to this day, I think this is a bad, bad idea. Making a movie out of something like this never pans out and only engraves the tombstone. I'm suprised that South Park managed to survive it.

Did anyone see the live action intro the other week?
I saw that on a site a while ago so it makes me think, did fox make it or did they steal it from someone? I'll put my money on the latter

They should have made a movie 12 years ago, the whole thing has run out of steam now, they cant even sustain a plot, or any humour, for 20 minutes anymore. I hear Ricky Gervais wrote an episode though, that could be good, but I doubt anyone would be able to sit through a film if its as bad as the show has been for the last few years.

I dont even know how it happened. Southpark has been consistently good for years, but the simpsons has just gone downhill. I miss futurama.

Yeah, Futurama makes me laugh more these days than the Simpsons.

I quite enjoyed the South Park movie, much to my continuing surprise. That the series continued after it is no real shock.

They're making a live action Simpsons move? Ok you must be kidding now. It'll just be plain awful then, like some people have already said watching a new simpsons now is even worse than the rest of the batch of american sitcom dross which is frequently peddled over here in the UK, i dont see how it could get much worse but it seems they've founs a way now.

And is it really true that they made a family guy movie, why didnt i hear about that?

Read the link, folks. The "live action" bit was a re-creation of the opening scenes of the show for last Sunday's episode.

The movie will be animated.

The only way it will be good is if Conan comes and writes it...

Well, not so much as stole it. UK Sky TV made it as an advert for the Simpsons (hence the car being RHD), and FOX liked it so much they asked to use it on the Simpson's episode Ricky Gervais wrote.

Conan the Barbarian (Arnold Schwarzenegger)?
My guess is that what he meant was Conan O'Brien (http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan_O'Brien), who, I might add, is quite a funny writer but I'm not sure if he'd fit for the Simpsons- he's more of the "clever" type than the "outrageously stupid" the Simpsons are.

Though I wonder if the film is "the end" of the Simpsons- not because of a belief that movies kill shows or that the Simpsons have run out of gas (that I do believe, however), but because I remember reading that the movie could only come out when the series is done. So does this mean 2006-07 is the swan song?
