Ok, I drink real beer, but I also like Miller Lite. It's great ice cold after a long day at work. This thread isn't about real beers, like microbrews and most imports. It's a thread to show our appreciation for the cheap mass-produced lagers our great nation is unfortunately known for. If you like a nice, normal shit beer say it loudly and proudly on this thread.

I don't drink. Before you start screamin, I would have to point out that I am 15 and I go to a school with the crappiest parties ever. In the middle of Herionville, USA. Quite a contridiction there.
However, the best I've ever had was some homemade hard apple cider. All the beer I've tasted, which just so happens to be mass produced crap beer, tasted like, you guessed it, crap.
But if I had to base it on something I understand, such as, I dont know, commercials, probably Miller. They got the funniest, except when Budwieser comes out with a doozy every now and then.
In conclusion, Cruzan Rum. Hands down.

I usually keep a case of Usian Barley Pop in the fridge across the summer (no other time) because I really don't like sugary sweet soft drinks.
Usually it will be the cheapest "light" 5.9 or 6.0 I can find. I'm just going to add lemon juice to it anyway.
When I want a Beer, I'll pull out a Stout. When I'm hot and thirsty, Lemon Barley Pop is the answer.

OMG, not Lucky! Anything but Lucky. That stuff should be confiscated by Homeland Security on the grounds of it being a WMD! I remember with horror being in a rural community that really liked Lucky beer. It was like a nightmare.
Now I’m sure that there have to be some decent beers in America, it’s just that every time I’ve been down there I’ve only been served your very worst. “Milwaukee’s Finest” brand of beer would have tasted better if they’d melted the can down and poured me that instead. If I was from Milwaukee I’d burn the brewery down for the bad name it gave my town. Bud Lite is well, like having sex in a canoe as the famous saying goes…
I remember being down at a bar on Whidbey Island, run by some ex-marine, trying to get find something stronger than Bud Lite (there wasn’t). Even the hard stuff they had at the bar was light. It’s like the local base commander ordered them to keep from getting their troops drunk or something.
I had Budweiser once. I put it on par with Fosters.
Um.
I'm informed that Sam Adams is a decent massproduced one, yes or no? I can get it here.

I’ve never met a single Australian that didn’t have anything horrible to say about Fosters. I still remember those magically huge coffee tin sized cans of beer from Australia (10% alcohol) that a friend of the family had on the shelf of his cabin. He once ran a Pub in Darwin during WWII called the Thirsty Fox, which was frequented by pilots. I have my doubts if they still sell beer cans that big in Australia anymore though…

While I can drink the cheap stuff, I find it goes better with a dash of salt (no lie, if you haven't tried it, please do, it actually makes the flavor better).
Though, I tend to prefer Belgian style beers in general. There's a brewery in Maine called Alagash that makes some of the best of that style outside of Belgium itself. Try their Trippel, you'll love it!

Yah. I never drink it from a bottle. Only on tap.
Oddly enough, from what I remember of my days of drinking massive quantities of beer, it's one of those that actually tastes better in a can than in a bottle.

Well, Fosters is terrible. That's why nobody here drinks the shit so it gets exported. As for cans that big, I don't know...haven't seen any, but you can buy what is known as a "Darwin Stubbie": a 1.25 litre (75 ounce) glass bottle of beer. Cans that big originating in Darwin wouldn't surprise me. :p

I don't like most of the beers people think of when American beer is mentioned - Bud, Miller, PBR, Coors or the like. I'd rather have sparkling water or lemonade or something. This is not to say that there are no good American beers, I just happen not to like the ones that most people associate with the US.

If I drink the equivalent alcholic volume of stronger ales or wines or spirits then I don't get drunk as fast. Maybe it's the fizziness or something. I remember drinking Golden Pride, which is a barley wine and it took me longer to get drunk on that...

Yes, don't feel too bad that American piss is no worse than British piss. I lived in Munich for eight years and, trust me, Budweiser is NOT like a German lager: it is like German cat's piss. Well, yes, I was referring specifically to British lager, as that was what had been mentioned in the post I was replying to. Our ales stand comparison with the best from anywhere else in the world, even including Bavaria (the place, not the cheap piss).
As far as whisky goes, we do need to be a tad more specific than "Brits" are far ahead on whisky. The SCOTS are far ahead on whisky. And proud of it.

For American beers, I'd say the only one I ever enjoyed is Coors. I've had a number of others, like Miller, Bud, Busch... yuck. And I might add that I only enjoy Coors every once in a while, and the Coors you get in Canada which is a different brew I believe.
My trips down south.. I generally skip on the beer and go straight for hard liquor, gin and tonic primarily.
Anyways, I enjoy a wide variety of beers, but my favourite is Alexander Keith's. Yes, I know its not a real pale ale, but damn, its got a perfect blend of initial bite and suave aftertaste. I also drink Rickard's on a fairly regular basis. But it always comes back to Keith's at the end of the day. *wistful sigh*

In my experience, while I can't say I like most American beers (and I am American) I'm OK with a few of them. Yeungling, Amber Bock, Honey Brown... and the first two are even produced by two of the big beer companies, IIRC.
...and the other stuff you find in the beer section is sometimes quite good. I can't notice a real difference in quality between hard ciders that say they're English and hard ciders that say they're from Vermont.
