Think of it this way, everything, and I mean everything is predicated on violence or exploitation/the exclusion or dissapearance of something else. Evolution-species are terminated if they cant exploit their environment successfully, exploit being the operative word. Violence permeates the most fundamental levels of reality. Ideologies, altruistic belief systems, they all involve the exclusion of something else and are divisible to self interest or individual agency at the expense of others in any sense of the word. So if the universe is based on existence/non existence which entails violence, does it suck?

Yes, the universe pretty much does inherently suck like a cyclone, at least for people like me.

The thing is, if the entire universe were devoid of exploitation, it would be a utopia. Everyone knows utopias are too boring to be practical

Leibniz was way too optimistic. This can't be the best world possible. And yes, it inherently sucks ass, horribly.

Only this half of the Universe. The other half is awesome!!!
Too bad it's kind of far.
Does the universe inherently suck?
No. It's constantly expanding. It is more accurate to say the universe inherently blows.

however, due to the expansion, most of the universe is hard vaccum. so yes, it does suck... and suck mightily.

The universe doesn't suck. The universe Chuck Norrises.

But it blows even mightilier, since it's apparently accelerating. So I'd say there is a net blowage effect.
The universe has no morality, it simply is. There is nothing good or bad about violence; the same concept of violence that leads to suffering and "evil" is the creative force that drives the universe and is "good".

ok, but isnt the universe on a downward spiral? if it keeps expanding eventually there will be nothing left. Thats not good is it although it means nothing one way or the other...hmmm

No, it will probably start recollapsing in to a new Big Bang, and will then reexpand, and recontract, ad infinitum.
Of course, this materialistic view of the universe does not include intervention by deities and whatnot.

well that could explain solar winds... so the universe is Blowing Wind eh?

nah, it'll probably keep on expanding forever untill everything is so cold and far away from everything else that no life can exist.
Then it'll suck.

Well if what you've just siad is true, life CAN'T exist without violence or exclusion, because by accepting one possibility in a situation all others are excluded.
So, life with violence might suck, but what would life without it actually be like?

i think the evidence points towards it expanding forever

Really this is just a very pessimistic way to look at it. You are looking at it from the view that this universe exists at the expense of some other universe that would have existed had this one not "killed" that one.
The more optimistic view is that this universe exists and if it didn't, then there wouldn't be a universe. The absence of a universe would neither suck, nor blow, but it wouldn't rock either. It would just sit there, not existing, forever. So yeah, it would suck too. And in my opinion, that would suck harder than our current universe, which, incidentally, could be why our universe is expanding.

watch any nature documentary on forests and jungles. plants wage wars trying to get the best nutrients as well as the sunlight. animals fight for everything from Food, to territory, to mates as well as protecting offspring.

We're not sure about that, though...the evidence is still not adequate enough to confirm the "cold death" hypothesis. Either way, I'll be many thousands of lifetimes dead before that happens.

Yeah we're not sue about that number, but it's the general accepted age of the universe.

I knew the age of the universe was 13.5 billion years; I was addressing the "cold death" part of it in my post but I wasn't clear when I wrote it.

The constant struggle to hold your head above the water is what makes the Universe worth living in. Without fighting, there is just lying there and waiting to die; not a very happy thought.

The semantic aftereffects might be all we're seeing at this point, but obviously the big bang and expansion are kinda contradictory to most respects of "suck"ing. It's a rearrangement. So the trick is to stay on your toes and not be too sensitive.
BTW, on a personal note, this is just about verbatim to my mom's philosophy.
