I have a question, and so i come to the general Forum, to ask the smartest, most intelligent, honorable, and possibly, most opinionated people in the world. the NS General Forum.

My Question is this, Currently, what is the best Graphics card money, (American), can buy?

I will have more based upon the answers I get.

Well the absolute best is the Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 512 MB version

Personally speaking I'd get a Geforce 7900 GT (the BFG version if possible) though, half the price but retains a lot of the punch with far less power consumption and noise.

Why thank you. What does BFG stand for?

And, any Idea where I can get either one of them?

Also, what Slot on the mother board do they take?

BFG are a company that sell Nvidia graphics cards, they tend to up their performance a touch for free and have a good lifetime warranty.

Both cards are available at Newegg I should think (do a little digging in case it's cheaper elsewhere).

They each fit in a PCI-Express x16 slot, pretty much every modern motherboard has at least one. Older boards will only have AGP slots though so make sure to check.

Alright, I will. I'm building my own Computer from scratch.

a good site I always look at is www.tigerdirect.com Its a very reliable company that sells everything computer related. They have good extended polices, and their products have always been reliable.

Ehhh they have declined in the first few years ... they were higher on my rankings in 2001

Now Newegg is the better choice but both are alright

Yeah but, to be honest ATI have neither the best card at the top nor the most efficient below it. Which is a shame as, on a personal level I like them better but objectively I'd go with Nvidia.
