Question for the Left-handed.

If you're a left-handed individual, is using a qwerty keyboard any more or less difficult than it is for the right-handed? Are there such things as left-handed keyboards? I am a right-handed individual, and had not stopped to wonder 'til now.

Nah. Never heard of a lefty keyboard, but I don't see how it matters. You type the same either way.

nope. The normal keyboards are just find, because you need both hands to type (properly). I mean, you don't see people come up with left-handed pianos or anything, because both hands are needed for that. It's just that under circumstances that you need to chose one hand for, I prefer the left to the right.

Well, the QWERTY keys are closer to the left hand, so perhaps it's harder on right-handed people? ;)

You know, I've never been right-handed, so I wouldn't know if it's harder or not. I can't imagine why it would be any different, though. What is annoying is place settings designed for right handers. The fork and knife are on the wrong sides for me.

Keyboards are the same. However, some lefties prefer the numeric keypad on the left side because that lets them key-in numbers much faster. There are a few keyboards like that, but you really have to look hard to find them.

That's pretty much it, and the tendancy for the arrow keys to be on the right, that's the only real bother. Any activity that involves both hands isn't really going to be an issue.

Now things like can openers and scissors...

While I'm at it, what's up with the blunt nose left handed scissors in school? We're left handed, not mental-are you all afraid that we'll just start stabbing you righties because you can't design stuff that can be used by both hands?

Hear, Hear! Right handed scissors are the bane of my existence.

So do lefties use the mouse with the left or the right hand? Because if they use the right hand, that gives them a distinct porn viewing advantage over me. :p

The QWERTY keyboard was designed to slow down right handers, so it is probably actually easier for left handers to use.
